I think the reason he may be desperate to move to the Premier league is because of the upcoming world cup, every Brazilian is going to want to be part of the team, and so put themselves on the biggest possible stage to showcase themselves. It's why I'm pretty hopeful of Leandro Damaio coming to Spurs. If City don't want Fernandinho I'd hope we take him, top class player. I know AVB tried to sign him when he was at Chelsea.

Which is especially good as it means they'll both be playing their balls off.

The Brazilian has emerged as a potential summer transfer target for City, but they are reportedly unwilling to match the fee currently being demanded for his services.

Upon signing for Shakhtar, a £40.5million release clause was inserted in Fernandinho's contract.

He claims to have been given assurances that a compromise could be reached if a top club came calling, but has been left disappointed by Shakhtar's reluctance to relax their stance.

Fresh from turning down the offer of a new contract in the Ukraine, the 28-year-old midfielder said: "The day I signed, the club's director guaranteed me that was normal with his players, and that in a transfer, we could negotiate and reach an agreement on the price.

"I trusted them, and I didn't think about the consequences it would bring me in the future.

"My dream is being threatened because of the high valuation."

Why did he sign the contract when it includes £40.5million release clause ?

This saga is classic Barcelona-style transfer business.

Turn a players head.
Low ball
Sign player for half

They basically tricked him into thinking it was normal to have clauses that high in Europe and that it's only used to prevent clubs from stealing players. Now it seems they're holding him to the clause and he's pissed. His agent should get the blame for not advising him correctly.

Mr. Reliable (Di Marzio) is reporting that we have apparently made an offer for Vidal , but Juventus doesn't want to sell the player.
