He was crap today. Not seen anything to suggest he his worth anything near 30 mill. Hope he isn't a Garcia 2.

Imagine that, 2 Garcia's for nearly £50mill.

I know Sheikh Mansour is rich, but he would be pissed of with that.

Fingers crossed.

From a selfish perspective every game he goes by without scoring is a bonus as i've had a sneaky bet with a friend that he won't get 10 goals. With all that said if those 10 goals mean the difference in winning the league or not then i'd quite happily watch him do it - don't see it though, not a goalscoring midfielder in my book.

Not trying to be a dick, but I can remember reading post similar to this on MEN bout javi when he recently signed as being an upgrade to NDJ and see what he's turned out to be !
I hope am completely wrong bout fern and I hope come May he would have proved his quality.

As you obviously missed preseason and the Newcastle game, try watching the Cardiff game.

I did watch the Cardiff game, and he hardly justified the hype.

Some incredible over reaction here - if Fernandinho is Gelson, who is Yaya? Negouai? Because he's been better than Yaya in both games. Tactically though, I think Pellegrini has a problem in some games with these two, as neither plays the role of enforcer in front of the back four, but that has already been discussed.

I think the only reason he's been better than Yaya is because Yaya has been playing deeper than he normally does and we all know yaya is a crappy defensive midfielder , I think Pellegrini should take a leaf from Mancini (at least just once) and play Yaya in the normal free role / advance midfield role where he is most comfortable and gives his best performance. Fernandinho doesn't have the strength or tenacity to force his way through a packed defensive wall like Yaya normally does . Yaya brings more to the team when played higher in the midfield. Teams would pack the bus against us more often this season and we would need to play Yaya in his normal advanced midfield position to break through the defensive wall.

Spot on mate. Idk why yaya hasn't been given the licence to play a more offensive role where he'll be more useful to the team !

The big problem we are looking at is I think that Fernandinho played in a midfield trio at Sahtar for years. And he was the middle of it.

There was a defensive minded midfielder behind him (Hubschmann last season) who did most of the dirty work. Fernandinho also tackles a lot (and got many yellows last season at Sahtar).

Also there was another midfielder ahead of him closer to the attacks (Miktharian, now at Dortmund).

So he was in the middle like a box-to-box type.

Well here its very hard for him as Yaya is far from an ideal partner for everyone.

The first thing I would have done in pre season is going for 433 formation with a midfield trio of Rodwell or Garcia sitting deep ahead of the defence ad then having Fernandinho and Yaya with the licence to go forward a lot. This would be a balanced trio.

Now we are having the same problems , Yaya isnt that disciplined to be alway at the right place or to mark his man all the time, Fernandinho doesnt know when to attack if both players attacks we are open in middle of the park.
We cant put Fernandinho deep as we lose most of his good ability to help attacks with his passing ad pace.

None of them is really good to do the real dirty work. In this duo now both of them has to do some dirty work, I dont think its an ideal duo.

Also winter will be interesting for Fernandinho here. He payed about 6-7 seasons in Ukraine ad they stop playing end of November and start playing again in end of February. He used to a 2.5-3 month break in last 7 season. Here he will have to play trough those period and sometimes even with matches every three day...
that could come as a shock to him.

he's OK but nothing special and a massive rip-off at the price. The fact he doesn't get in Brazil's squad, when their midfield is very average, tells it's own story. Honestly i'd rather have Barry in the team.

I'm sure he will improve over time, because he cannot possible be this bad, like he was today.

But if you cannot expect such an experienced and expensive player to deliver the goods - on at least an average basis right away, then I don't know what to say. Piss poor performance, and his price tag is a fucking joke. Yes hopefully times will change, but its so damn naive to defend him and just say - give him time.

He's not some young promising player, he's supposed to be an experienced professional. And how come we see other players hit it off right away? He really deserves the abuse, but at the same time I'm not writing him off. But let's be feckin honest and just tell it like it is.

price tags mean nothing! Aguero cost us £35M and was poor against Cardiff, is he shit? No, was his price tag a joke? No, is he an experienced player? Yes!

Anyone who saw him monster Chelsea's midfield in the Champions League last season will tell you that he's a very good player when used correctly.

Bloody hell that's all I ever hear about this guy. Remember the Chelsea game. It was one game. How about 10 more examples

When we bought him the same alarm bells rang when we were after Sinclair, Garcia, RSC fowler and bridge. I think we have paid 25m too much

Sorry that and many other posts comes across as very knee jerk

I'm not saying we shouldn't have bought him but we overpaid by alot and that's a hell of a burden on a player.
And it's not knee jerk as I said it in the summer and got stick for it

Actually from what I have seen he seems far more a Premier league player than Yaya. Yaya slows play down. Fernandinho has already got into crossing positions several times. He gets back quick too.

It might be that it is Yaya who needs to be moved forward or dropped.

By the end of the season I expect people to be talking very positively about this guy.
