He would be mad not to have Fernandinho in the starting 11 for the Brazilian team, and if he swallows his pride and picks him I reckon Brazil would just about win the Cup.

Basically so far it boils down to the others ahead of him doing it in better leagues for a longer time than Fernandinho. Oscar/Ramieres at Chelsea, Hernanes at Lazio and before their move to Spurs Scholari was able to watch Paulinho and a Sandro closely in Brazil. He's kept this set up for preferences and familiarity only. Willian even though he's played on the same team as Dinho and went to Russia doesn't have the same depth of players ahead of him.


Currently Dinho is the best center mid and just based on current form alone should be number 1 on this list in midfield. If Scholari is waiting to see a bunch more of games from him before a call up he should say so, but he's really turned a blind eye and has come up with weak excuse after weak excuse as to why he's not picked. Call me a bitter blue to the end but I hope Brazil go out in the group stages if Fernandinho isn't given a call up. No Brazilian deserves it more.
 
He's really starting to look settled now and other than the sitter he missed he was faultless yesterday. He does a lot of the work that goes unnoticed if you aren't watching the whole game which is why I think his performances still go under the radar from the neutrals. I think he suffers from the Gareth Barry effect of not standing out on MOTD as non City fans I speak to still don't seem to rate him that highly.
 
Couldn't care less how much he cost.

He does exactly what we have needed in midfield for the past few seasons perfectly. He has shown great attitude with regards to getting involved with the fans, learning english and setting in quickly and coupled that with some solid and impressive performances on the pitch.

He carried Yaya yesterday who looked half asleep until he suddenly went into overdrive and powered through the spurs half to lay it on for Aguero.
 
He's probably thinking he's made his move a summer too late. Now in the run up to the WC Scolari is surely going to be focusing more on getting his team playing as the most cohesive unit possible, not throwing in a different midfielder and starting again. It's not like they have an abundance of games between now and then to try something new.
 
He's very close to world class, considering he's playing much more restricted than he usually does he's still absolutely fucking everywhere, and as has been mentioned a million times before, his engine is IMO one of the best in the Premier League, if not world football, goes at top speed all game.
 
Unbelievable performance yesterday, 10/10. Calm the hype though, he's still got a lot to prove before we can start labeling him world class. More of those performances, in the big games and smaller games, then we can start putting those sort of tags on him.
 
I'm happy to say my criticism of him after the Bayern game was premature, as I hoped it would be as no blue wants any player to fail, and I was wrong about him as a player. He is really beginning to look the part defensively as well as with the ball at his feet.

I never had any doubts about his passing ability but I was concerned earlier in the season that he was being caught in possession and wasn't taking up good positions without the ball. He's always been none-stop with his running but we were seeing him all over the place and out of position when sometimes you just want your centre mid to stay nearer the middle of the park and push the opposition out wide and away from the danger area.

I was overly critical after the Bayern game and more than happy to admit when I'm wrong, although there is no doubt he has improved his performances game after game over the season. I think Sunderland showed how much we miss him as a player, and yesterday was probably his best performance of the season, reading the game, breaking up play, and then getting us on the front foot.

He now looks a class act and I think he'll get better and better, even more so once he's had a full season under his belt. So I'm here for humble pie, if he continues in this vain we'll have a box to box midfielder, who can get his foot in, break up play, but then also play with the ball at his feet, a complete midfielder if you will, and a snip at the price we paid.

He's a great player who's had to adapt to the pace of the Prem and also a change of midfield role. Outstanding today and looks like he's enjoying it now. We've got a gem of a player there, wish he would have scored that chance though!
 
Very important, unspectacular cog in the wheel who goes under the radar of tripe-talking pundits obsessed with '' fantastic brazilian freekicks'' and suchlike. In actual fact, Fernandinho is in the long-established tradition of businesslike Brazilian defensive midfielders -since Dunga. If Scolari can't see that he's a better bet than Paulinho- for one- then it'll be a shame for the lad not being able to be in his national squad for a mundial in his homeland. But it would make him even more determined to win medals with us.
 
Regardless of his price, this lad is a great fit for us. He's been improving all the time and is turning in some sweet performances. Was excellent yesterday.

I can see him being really influential over the next two or three years.
 
I see lots of people who were at the match think Flopinho was arguably man of the match. This is indeed very very pleasing. Those who wrote him off when we first sign him were warned that similar things had been said of Yaya.

A preposterously good performance when you look at it closer. He is such an intelligent player too.

I think the Bayern game was the catalyst, he and Yaya got the runaround that night, but Fernandihno has improved with every game since, we badly missed his drive at Sunderland, and without him and Silva we looked half the team. One player has effectively replaced two, though I worry a little about the back up we have, if he gets injured.

Oh and don't tell Scolari, we want him fit for City....
 
Pivotal to our whole game when playing with 2 strikers up front (ie only 2 in CM). Shame when we're playing with just 2 in the middle that we don't have someone else with the same work ethic next to him.

IMO when MP reversed Dinho in the deeper role and allowed Yaya to go forward more was the difference. Yaya isn't always interested in defending. So having Dinho playing further forward always meant we'd get cut open easier. Dinho is more willing to do the dirty work. He also just needed time to fit in with the team. With so many top class players in the squad with his personality he was going to take a back seat so to speak.
