Here's someone who thinks Fenandinho is the answer to all our problems:

I actually thought he played quite well, I just don't see any opportunity for him in our midfield. If you take Yaya and Fernandinho as the two main men as many on here are, he would still have Barry and Rodwell to compete with and that's just for a place on the bench.

IMHO, in our Champions' Leaguebgames, we were overrun in midfield, when we only played two in there.

So, with that in mind, I think a midfield three of YaYa, Fernandinho, and either Rodwell or Milner will give us the energy, drive and solidity needed to succeed in the competition.

That leaves Manny with the nice headache of which three to play up front. I would always play Sergio. But who with him?

So many players, and so many combinations. I can't wait.

garcia and barry failed to perform at the santiogo bernabue. yaya was playing further up the pitch. the team lacked an engine in midfield, we had no counter attack capability until dzeko came on.

dortmund like to press high up the pitch, last season we were allergic to teams who press high, think sunderland, stoke, everton. hopefully pellegrini will know how to deal with teams who press high.

we should've done better against ajax.
Sunderland and Stoke don't press high, they just park the bus.

dude, that's just one bit, I remember games at Stoke very well and it is a lot of us having the ball. This is just spur of the moment stuff, not organized team tactics, remember game on new years?!

Fernandinho delighted with Goal 50 recognition

The Brazilian made our list of the best players in the world thanks to his performances with Shakhtar Donetsk last season and he aims to build on that with Manchester City

EXCLUSIVE
By Sam Lee

Manchester City midfielder Fernandinho has expressed his delight at being included in the Goal 50 and hopes to move up the list by making an impact at the Etihad Stadium.

The Brazil international earned a place in our list thanks to his performances for Shakhtar Donetsk last season, where he won the Ukrainian league title and reached the knockout stages of the Champions League, turning in two great performances against Chelsea along the way.

Having sealed a £35 million transfer to the Premier League runners-up in June, Fernandinho is now looking to build on those impressive performances.

"I am happy to be thought of like this, as one of the world's best 50 players, and I say thank you to those who think of me in this way," he told Goal.

"Last season was a memorable one for me and I was really happy with my performances. I'm looking forward to this coming season - hopefully things will get even better for me."

The 28-year-old sealed a 2-1 victory against Chelsea in last season's Champions League, which he feels was one of the high points of his campaign.

"There were many highlights last season," he enthused. "We had some great performances in the Champions League and also had domestic success in Ukraine. Scoring the goal against Chelsea in the Champions League was special."

Fernandinho joins compatriots Neymar, Dante, Fred, Thiago Silva and Paulinho on the list and he believes that Brazil's Goal 50 representatives have a great chance of winning next year's World Cup.

"Brazil always has great players and this squad is no different. I'm delighted to be involved and we'll see what happens for next summer," he continued.

"We obviously think we will have a good chance, especially in front of our own supporters. It's going to be such a special time and we will be aiming to win!"

This. A few examples of how stupid the list is:

Neymar was placed 12th above Iniesta who's 19th,
Fred was placed 13th the likes of Falcao (17th), Lewa (15th), Cavani (16th)
Paulinho placed 12th above Gotze, Mata, Gundogan, Javi Martinez
Ribery - 2nd
Ronaldo - 3rd
