Actually from what I have seen he seems far more a Premier league player than Yaya. Yaya slows play down. Fernandinho has already got into crossing positions several times. He gets back quick too.

It might be that it is Yaya who needs to be moved forward or dropped.

By the end of the season I expect people to be talking very positively about this guy.

Great minds and all that, the bit i've highlighted is exactly what i just posted in another thread, he slowed a lot of the play down and lost his drive. At least Fernandinho looked to go forward at every opportunity and pass quickly.

I know it's hard to see after yesterday but he's going to be a very important player for us this season, we need him to be on his game because when he's good he's unplayable.

Agree with this totally. I remember when Silva first joined and didn't make an instant impact people grumbled about whether he was good enough or strong enough for the league etc. Fernandinho will be vital to our successes this season. People just don't know it yet!

This I agree with, the rest of the posts - I think I will just lurk.

I like page 47,sensible stuff.

Fernandinho is quality.I'm also in agreement about Yaya.

Some good thoughtful and sensible discussions going on this morning, in contrast to last night, i thought the world was ending when i got back and logged on, i should've known better i suppose?

Kneejerk reaction based on emotion, people were rightly angry, bemused and frustarted, all inevitable and expected stuff after a poor loss.

Again the slow build up moving forward makes Silva and Co less effective than they should be.

We have to cough it up eventually as the players are not good enough to make the pin point pass every time.

The slow build up is a remnant from the previous coaching staff. Not one of Pellegrini's teams in all the years I've watched them have ever gone in for what we saw yesterday. To think it isn't something which will change, and change relatively quickly, is a bit naive.

The thing that grates me though is people aren't willing to pick the bones out of it and have a sensible discussion on what went wrong and what needs changing to put things right.

A lot of posters were worried more about what there Rag mate was going to say to them when they were back at work......priceless

You can't get sensible discussion on the day of the defeat, threads move far too quickly and any decent posts disappear.

I hope you are right BS , it was along with the previous man management style of the RM and your other well documented concerns about how we played that led you to the conclusion that a change was necessary which was shared by the owners.

If we are to continue with this style and the longer it lasts the harder it is to change for the better we have to defend much better especially at set pieces.

Last year we didn't concede too many goals from corners and you can correct me if I am wrong but Manure away was the only significant one that comes to mind and we still won that game.

You are right of course but it still doesn't get away from the second part which always baffles me

TBH it's wums/rags, imo, that post nonsense like that.

Does anyone still see him as a 34 million pound player?
A lot of overreaction to the Cardiff game, he wasn't the worst player on the pitch, but please stop pretending he is anywhere near basquets, xavi or alonso khedira schweinsteiger gundogan vidal et al

-- Tue Aug 27, 2013 3:30 am --

Does anyone still see him as a 34 million pound player?

I'm a massive Khedira fan and have been for four years, but I'd rather have Dinho in our side right now. He's much more suited to our style. There's not a lot of difference in quality there. He's also a totally different player to every player you've mentioned right there, and there isn't a better box to box player in the world than Vidal right now.
