Yes, that's right. I know for a fact we blew United out the water for Silva, and that he was interested in RM first and us second. RM went for Di Maria, leaving us to pick up Silva.

That's how we are wheeling and dealing at the moment.

We do hold some good cards, not least the fact that we can push the price through the roof on any player. That's a serious card to hold.

if that is your argument and city have these agreements and city have the most money why dont city get all the best players like david villa etc etc

You are not listening.

You can only do a "tradeoff" deal like this if each club are chasing 2 players.

for those who think we're going after Torres what do you make of the apparent offer we have on the table for Dzeko?

Torres, Tevez, Dzeko (and that's with RSC and Ade sold and not even including Bellamy)? I read somewhere if we were to get to the final of every competition we play this season we'd play 69 matches, but you still wouldn't get enough games to keep these 3 world class superstars happy.

eventhough i agree with dw7 that torres wont leave for us this summer,,, but nobody can be 100% sure that torres will/wont come to city. the only person who knows that is torres himself.

thats my opinion anyways

Is that legal though? I doubt it. I would think it falls foul of anti market-fixing legislation.

It goes on all the time and there's nothing illegal about it.

Redknapp even whinged to the press about us doing it for Bellamy last year.

You know what DD.people must be very naive if they don`t believe this sort of thing happens in football.Same with bloody agents, they dictate most of the time.
Can`t understand the naivity of some people.

Its not impossible but its very unlikely. Be hard for the liverpool owners to justify to the fans they would go completely mental if he goes to another prem side especially city.

Also barca want him bad and he wants to go back to spain to play for them. So I think it will be hard to get him. As someone else pointed out we will offer a much bigger fee and wages its then down to the player, his club and his reps the way they want to go.

Masc, Torres and Gerrard are all likley to leave Liverpool this summer so it could get very messy for them, they could go into freefall if they are not very careful.

I can definately see us offering Ireland, RSC and £30 million odd for Torres, that would make it very hard for Liverpool as they would have 2 solid ready made replacements for Torres and Gerrard plus a load of cash. Rumoured we have offered Torres £200k a week - double what he would get at Barca so that makes it hard for the player. Going to be very interesting.

I dont understand why people dont think we can sign torres?

We are a better option than staying at liverpool and not many other clubs can afford him.

i dont understand why you would sign up 5 minutes after being banned under your old username.

i do understand that but what im saying sometimes its not about who offers the most money ala kaka deal if city offerd liverpool x amount and inter offer lower that liverpool deem reasonable and torres wanted to link up with rafa again then he'd go to inter

What City are doing is having several targets in place for each key position. Ignore the press who say offers are in place. We might register an interest in 4 left backs but only close the deal on the one highest up our list who will come.

So, if we are after one striker, we might register an interest in Torres, Ibrahimovic and Dzeko. We might even agree fees in principal. And we work down the list.

Last season we pulled out of the ETo'o deal and signed ADebayor, as an example. But Eto'o was choice 1 and Ade choice 2.
