Can't see why payment timing would be a big issue for City: it's not relevant to cost ; just cash flow.

I agree, I really don't know how this would help mate....maybe if we paid 8mil now and 4mil next season.....it would only be 8mil off our allowed 49mil for this season's transfers?...we've agreed a price, wish they just stop messing around and close the deal.....
Except that that is not the way it works, if we agree £12 million then that is how much it goes through the books this summer as far as UEFA are concerned.

Thanks for clearing that up mate...I wasn't sure how it works...If its not going to help City with this years spending, shouldn't we just pay the agreed price without trying to do it in installments?...thanks

Maybe we should just trust our highly experienced and successful DOF to get it right yet again for us.

Just a thought ;.)

Just because they are the best team in Europe, it doesn't mean we get it right every time! ;)

Correct: it is the cost of buying the player's registration that matters; not the timing of any payments. The debit side of the transaction. Whether the credit is to cash or creditors or a combination is not of consequence to UEFA.

I wonder why City would haggle then if it has no bearing on FFP, because (an initial) £12m for Fernando is ridiculously cheap. Maybe Porto want more in future add-ons or something.

The whole treatment of City's transfer cap is shrouded in mystery and I don't think it has been revealed. Presumably it's part of the settlement agreement which has not been fully disclosed to the public

Could be that we have other transfer plans in which case we need max wriggle room

Don't you mean the usual city closing a deal problem?

For fucks sake read whats been said about his personal dispute with his Club. Its fuck all to do at Citys end !!

Mate, from todays reports......the delay is "all" down to City wanting to spread the cost and not pay it upfront......

And how many different reports have we had since the news first broke ref us wanting him ? It changes by the day. However I will not change my stance on this and Fernando will be a City player before too long.

Guys, the issue is NOT about Fernando's loyalty bonus, its with City and Porto....looks like the disagreement is over how the transfer money is paid....I bet City trying to do it in installments...come on City, just get it done!!!

City Watch ‏@City_Watch 39m
Record: The delay in Fernando's £12m move from Porto to City is because of a dispute over how and when the transfer fee will be paid.

City Watch ‏@City_Watch 35m
According to Record, Fernando is waiting in Brazil for a breakthrough and will fly directly to Manchester for his medical when it is sorted.
Do you believe everything you read on the internet? If so, I know a Nigerian general who's live your email address.

If this report is true and, if it is, it means the previous one you've flapped about isn't, then what's the big deal? Before you say someone may pay it up front, at that point so could we, however, if it's just us, why pay up front? No one else in Europe does - just watch when we try and sell someone and they offer us £1m a season over the next 20 years.

I am chilled, whatever happens he will sign for us. Can't believe it is how the payments are made between us and Porto if that was correct why fly Fernando to Portugal to resolve the issue which tends to suggest problem between player and club.. At a guess I suspect loyalty bonus will be the issue as always.

Aguero, Silva, Yaya, Kompany and Zaba might have something to say about that!

Haha sorry glen but to add that to an already fantastic squad tells me they are using our spending cap while we are limited as such. Fabregas, luis, zouma and costa into a squad that has hazard, Oscar, willian, matic, ramieres, cahill and soon courtoius spells trouble.

Actually Chelsea are in the same position as us. They have made just one signing so far- Fabregas. The rest are still in negotiation . Of course they should complete these deals but we should also complete ours.

I see it as very healthy competition. With the additions of Sagna and Fernando alone,i reckon our first 16 is still stronger than theirs.

If all of their deals come off then Chelsea will start next season as favourites. I'm not sure if that suits Mourinho considering how well he did out of undeservedly playing the underdog card so frequently last season.
