Fernando back in Brazil on his holidays, after delay in talks......we'd be guessing if we said we knew when this would get done......
Until he starts missing pre-season training, it doesn't matter when he signs. In fact, we're saving his wages every week, so why rush
Someone might nip in while we are lazing away.
Maybe he's waiting to see if the Rags are interested........?

Quite right, I raised this a while ago.
we can make a £20million loss this year, if he is on 100k per week then 5 weeks saves us 500k. It's all well and good people flapping but how pissed off would we be if we missed out on the FFP target by just 1 million and had been paying wages to new signings all the way through the wofld cup.

its easy for us as fans to want things cut and dried but the truth is thst the guys in charge know what they are doing.

Maybe a loan is involved? Zucculini perhaps? hence the delay.

All guesswork and like the previous poster states, for now....its all good for the bank balance

No the delay is dispute between him and Porto about loyalty bonus, according to portuguese media.

No it certainly is not, the delay is apparently because Tonys chippy closes on a Monday afternoon and he is just not having it.

Maybe we're looking at factoring Mangala in the deal again!!

The bastard !!! And Fernando is no better.

Guys, the issue is NOT about Fernando's loyalty bonus, its with City and Porto....looks like the disagreement is over how the transfer money is paid....I bet City trying to do it in installments...come on City, just get it done!!!

City Watch ‏@City_Watch 39m
Record: The delay in Fernando's £12m move from Porto to City is because of a dispute over how and when the transfer fee will be paid.

City Watch ‏@City_Watch 35m
According to Record, Fernando is waiting in Brazil for a breakthrough and will fly directly to Manchester for his medical when it is sorted.

Oh so Porto wants the £16m up front .. but its Porto we are dealing with they usually get what they want..

I guess we are trying to keep costs down this summer so we can spend in other areas.

Trust City to make the deal in the end.

Which is fine but if we end up missing on him because we wanted to pay couple a mil next season instead of all upfront...then this is down to City's poor dealings......We had all started to believe this was between Fernando and Porto but clearly City just trying to make savings after agreeing a price.....

i think its the usual 3rd party problem.
Don't you mean the usual city closing a deal problem?

For fucks sake read whats been said about his personal dispute with his Club. Its fuck all to do at Citys end !!

Mate, from todays reports......the delay is "all" down to City wanting to spread the cost and not pay it upfront......

The story changes every day it seems but certainly some kind of issue about money there is.

Can't see why payment timing would be a big issue for City: it's not relevant to cost ; just cash flow.

I agree, I really don't know how this would help mate....maybe if we paid 8mil now and 4mil next season.....it would only be 8mil off our allowed 49mil for this season's transfers?...we've agreed a price, wish they just stop messing around and close the deal.....

I'm getting a good feeling because of this. It looks as though we're penny pinching. Given that we can spend £49 million plus whatever we might get on the outgoing players (Richards, Guidetti, Sinclair etc) taking it to say £60million , it would appear that Txiki wants to keep a fair bit back (£48 million) suggesting that there might be a big signing in the offing after all this summer.

Except that that is not the way it works, if we agree £12 million then that is how much it goes through the books this summer as far as UEFA are concerned.
