Good thread this.. interesting stuff..

I'm not too clear on the exact duties of ferran & txiki... other than the obvious..

lets say pellegrini finishes 4th with no silverware.. will F&T or T&F get rid?

Just wondering what you think.. because I don't want us to turn into a chelsea chopping and changing every season..
I think if we finish 4th and no silverware, soriano and tricky will be out faster than shit through a goose.

I can't see them leaving unless its on their terms. Aslong as profits keep going up Soriano stays as long as he stays txixi stays.

I love it when simple logic is used to destroy dumb hysteria.

Once again it's fascinating how we have so many threads discussing doomsday scenarios. What the fuck has actually happened? We've got more points than the rags, six points out of nine, two clean sheets, scored 8 goals in three matches. It's laughable the amount of bullshit I'm currently reading about "what if we finish 6th - what if we don't win a trophy - what if the players we've signed are all shit". You may as well be saying "what if the Sheikh takes his money and goes home".

Well we have had 2 home games and 1 away! Scum have had 2 away games 1 home but lets see where we are after 10 games 22 points minimum hopefully

As well as having had two home games and one away. We have played 2 promoted teams, lost to one of them, and a very poor Newcastle team.
The RB's have on paper had much tougher games against Swansea away, Chelsea home and Liverpool away . How many points are we likely to have got if we had opened with the RB's first 3 games?
I feel at best we have had a very indifferent start to the season and hope Peli can sort out the defensive problems, which he chose to create.
It is hard to understand why he felt the need to change what has been the the best defence in the Premiership for the last 2 years. Why not try to change the things that needed improving rather than things that were OK.
Its not all down to the loss of injured players. It was the same pre season when everyone was available but Pelli does not appear to have learned from pre season. Fingers crossed he gets it sorted.

No but the injuries to Kompany and Nasti have been significant. We need our best defenders available to camp in the opposition's half.

Evolve or die.

Sure we had the best defence for the last 2 years in the premier league, hell it won us the league, but last year despite our assured defence we were not good enough both domestically and in Europe. Our attacking philosophy needed to change and that means the whole set up must change too. I posted in a little more detail in the 3 Man Midfield thread.

I loved Mancini, I was an ‘inner’ but on reflection the choice to replace him was the right one. Teams, especially those in Europe, figured out how to frustrate us and eventually beat us we had to evolve and I couldn’t see Mancini doing that.

We’re not playing catch up anymore, the possession based ‘tika taka’ football is already becoming a thing of the past for the elite level clubs, it’s now being implemented only by the also-rans (Barcelona are still hanging onto it, but then again they have Messi, but how long can they go watching clubs move past them, added to that they’ve lost that holistic approach ).

City along with the majority of the elite clubs have moved onto a new formation and a new footballing philosophy. It might take us a month or 2 to adapt properly but when we do the rewards will pay dividends.

Basically how I feel about it. As you said, it might take a little while to get used to the new system but once we do I think we'll be the team to beat (if we aren't already). Hopefully we don't surrender too much of a lead to the other teams if we lose/draw a couple of games in the near future. Luckily both utd and Chelsea also have new managers and will have to adapt too.

Going to be an interesting season!

Now you know how we used to feel about you and Dave. The extent of the role reversal is bloody shocking though. You and Dave are tubthumping happy clappers. A number of the Inners are now highly pessimistic. I am entertained.
