Trying to find it online as it was in the paper edition that I read it (I'm not a Mail reader, I had it on a plane comeback from holiday!). I might still have the paper somewhere in my recycling so I'll try dig it out later and scan it.

In the meantime, I found a cuple of others that talk about Khaldoon's support of Mancini; not in as explcit terms as Samuels piece, but still backing the notion:

<a class="postlink" href="http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2324053/Roberto-Mancini-sacked-Manchester-City-having-friends-counts.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/footba ... ounts.html</a>

Also, quick google of 'khaldoon backed mancini' throws up a lot of examples of how he publicly backed the man very close to the end of last season, which I feel adds a bit of weight to it all (there's a good article form the Independent there).

All the happy clappers being at the new managers throat and the Spanish duos smacks of childishness. Or hoping for failure to prove their point.

They should grow the fuck up, the handwringing after 3 games (one of which was a 10/10 performance) is sad as fuck.
No one is getting at anyone's throat and certainly not hoping for failure; at least, I'm not. I said that I'll back the two Spaniards to the hilt and that they deserve time and support. I was just expressing my concerns based on how I perceived their handling of Mancini's sacking, and on my pre-existing opinion of Pellegrini as a manager. Nothing wrong with that.

Of course they back the manager publicly up until he gives him the boot.

Khaldoon and the Sheik were not reluctant to dismiss Mancini. It was their decision to do so and their orders for Feran to find a successor whilst Mancini was still in situ.

Come on Sam mate im pretty sure theres not one blue on here who wants pellegrini to fail to prove a point
And if there is then they are a fucking idiot.

I know I still have a moan & gripe at the players abt last season
To me it just seemed certain games toys were out of the pram

Anyway I think pellegrini was get us the title back :)

First of all Txiki and Ferran were above Mancini, if they wanted rid of him then they could have just done it. They would not have gone through all the hassle of undermining him in order to get rid.
Above Mancini, yes. But below Khaldoon Mubarak. He was a big fan of Mancini's, and would have taken a lot of convincing. They wouldn't have been able to just sack Mancini without his approval.

But people always seem to ignore Khaldoon's involvement and find a scapegoat elsewhere. First it was Marwood and now it's Txiki and Ferran.

I highly doubt it was Marwood's decision to tighten the purse strings last summer. Just like the decision to sack a manager has to come from the top. Regardless of whether Khaldoon wanted Mancini to stay he still made the decision to sack him.

Happy clappers at someone's throat? I must have the wrong idea on what the term 'happy clapper' means.

But didn't he bring those two in - football people - to make football-based decisions? In which case, he had to back or act on the advice of Txiki and Ferran, as that's what he employs them to do. Hence why, if Pellegrini doesn't work out, he'd most likely hold them to account (and in turn, the Sheikh might hold Khaldoon responsible!).

Don't the people still sneering at Mancini need to grow up too?

Yes they do skash. But when they are posting :

'Super Bob's currently outside the Italian Football Federation HQ with his skirt hitched up and his arse out again. Shame he's not going to get that job either. Hahahaha'.

Do you actually think ythey will ever grow up? Me neither. Sad people.

Hope Mancini does get the Italian job and makes a success of it. Has fuck all to do with us, people need to get over him. Remember his time fondly or not fondly and move on.
