If you'd have been told before that season started that City would finish over 10 points behind a poor U****d side and lose an FA Cup Final to a relegated side who'd never previously scored against us with their incumbent Manager then would you have accepted it? I wouldn't have. I'd have demanded changes.

Will you take 3rd and last 8 of the champions league and no trophies because at the moment I would

That would have to be classed as unsuccesful. OK last 8 in the CL is progress but the lowest league position for 3 years and
no silverware. Thanks, but no thanks. I think we need to be aiming a tad higher than that this year.

We should...refer to my post above

Well we won't win the Premier League ever if we carry on playing the same suicidal high line of defence.

The same high line as Barca Bayern Dortmund?

Tbf the real hilarity is in the massives who were all about get behind the team/manager/club last season now falling over themselves to do anything but.

Some of us questioned why we were appointing him from the moment he was linked with us and have seen nothing to change our stance since, in fact I've only seen things that have strengthened my view.

I don't think Pellegrini will be here in a 18 months time and I doubt the Spanish pair will be here much longer.

I think Pellegrini will be at city long enough to lift at least 5 trophies. 7 if we count the Bobby Manc Shield.

Always knew you had a soft spot for him really..

This squad has the potential to win the League and more.

It's over-loaded with forwards though.

There are 2 issues

1) The mental strength of players who coasted through last season
2) The manager who has over-committed to attack in his opening games.

I'm sure our feelings about the new team and manager will change match by match as we get more and more evidence on which to base our views. That's the only honest way to approach it. Comment on what you have seen. And given the ability of our squad, what we have seen has been mixed at best, therefore criticism is entirely appropriate

Seriously? Fair play Billy, you're putting your balls out there.

I can see us picking up a domestic cup and the league this season. Seen nothing from rags or Chelsea to suggest they're ahead of us. Pellegrini despite being labelled the Chilean David Moyes, is a fantastic manager who we're lucky to have. The forum narrative will be much changed in a couple of months time once the season takes shape.

Obviously goes without saying but I hope you're right.

Last season you and Dave went potty when Mancini started using 3 at the back. Fair enough. You were entitled to your view but you certainly claimed your criticism was voiced out of support for City so surely it's you who are now being hypocritical for trying to ridicule any criticism and questions?

Please stop using the pro or anti Mancini standpoint taken to judge comment on Pellegrini and judge it on its merits. Mancini was a proven manager, Pellegrini is not. You can argue that he has all the qualities to be a better manager and that's fair enough, but until he delivers a trophy in Europe there will be questions, and it's indefensible to claim that supporters should not raise questions.

Criticism after 3 games may well be ridiculous. I'm much more prepared to take that angle of argument.

I can't help commenting after conceding 3 at Cardiff and playing an unbelievably poor game at home to Hull employing throughout tactics which I consider highly inappropriate to the team i.e. moving players out of midfield to the wing and forward line. The other thing that bothers me is that we have bought 3 additional forwards when the team can at anyone time play 2 whilst not strengthening the left full back and central defensive positions which were obviously weak points. That's already proven to be a mistake
Please don't bring me into this abortion of a thread.

I'm sitting back and enjoying it.

And just to be clear, I'm not laughing at anyone who questions Pellegrini. In laughing at the numpties questioning our club's two Spanish executives, essentially because we were so-so at Cardiff and crap against Hull. The equivalent of someone having a dodgy burger and insisting that beef should be removed from the food chain.

Agree in part what I see with Chelsea is they are going to be hard to beat or score goals against also with Mourinho record I feel they are favourites for the title be interesting when we play them a good attacking side against are a good defensive side...
