Ferran Torres

He has huge potential and that’s what we’re buying. He is no Sterling or Mahrez yet but he has very nice attributes that Pep wants in a player. I can only see his development skyrocket under Peps guidance. Very exciting signing, and one that would confirm Pep is extending his contract. If he only intended to stay until 2021, I think Ferran would stay put or move somewhere else in Spain.

Thanks

With his skillset I see him moving into KDB's position by the time he's 24/25.

Yeah that’s an interesting thought! But feel his speed could be somewhat ’wasted’ in midfield as Torres is so good at accelerating behind the oppositions defense from the front line.

I know what you mean, but if he's a REALLY good dribble his pace in the middle could become a massive weapon on the turn. Players like Hazard, Messi, and Neymar (and occasionally Sterling) can be extraordinarily dangerous because they can run directly at defences with incredible pace and control. I mean even players like Silva have been scary there and he wasn't even that pacy comparatively.

Look what Hernandez almost did against us for Norwich, and then imagine a better, more skillful, and faster player doing that.

How many times do we see KDB do it.

Torres will play on the wings, but during passage of play he'll occasionally switch positions with the attacking midfielder. Mahrez does this with Kev from time to time. But Torres is a winger like Mahrez who can beat their man where when Kev on the outside doesn't try to beat his man by trickery, but by just trying to get into space where he can put in a cross.
If the play is developing from the opposite side he can also get into the box to be a second striker.

Jesus gets a raw deal. He’s got bags of talent and incredibly quick feet but at times he’s a bit immature and prone to errors - but he’ll get better in time. I find it interesting that many of those that are critical of Jesus are the ones saying we should sign Haarland. Haarland is very raw and even more prone to the type of naive errors Jesus makes.
Thing I’d say is Jesus is the same age as we signed Aguero all those years ago! Best years are ahead of him and he seems so loyal to us. Such a rare commodity for a Brazilian no 9! Great player we’re just comparing him with Kun who is god.

Jesus is a very good player but he’s got a lot of work to do if he is to be a top class striker.

IMO, there are a lot of decent strikers in the PL which if they played for City, would be just as productive, if not more, from a goal scoring perspective.

I’d love to see Gabby take a leaf out of Vardy’s book and just work in smashing the ball on target when through in goal. I feel that whenever Gabs goes one-on-one with the keeper or gets a sniff at goal, he hesitates and tries to place the ball in the net. It’s probably the reason he misses so many good chances.
I see your point. When there’s a 10 player block though what’s a smash going to do? Should Gabby play Agueros minutes he’d get 20 prem goals a season and that’s with missing a lot. Begs belief people (Dippers) think Firmino is better. I think he’s allergic to scoring goals

That type of run made me think immediately of Kaka.

Torres looks like he could be a great replacement for Sane.

He's young, quick and has lots of promise.

Can dribble, take people on and hopefully as time goes on he can add goals to his resume.

Anelka and Henry went to Arsenal as wingers and became fantastic strikers, maybe Torres could do that for City.
