Feyenoord (H) | CL | Post Match Thread

This can’t be all down to Rodri though. I know he’s brilliant but he’s not freaking superman. Rodri with one leg is probably better than what we’ve got right now though.
Rodri would have stationed himself between the 2 centre halves when we went 3 up. Slowed the game down. We don't have anyone to do that now or rather no one who thinks of doing it. Bernie has at times but even he carried on playing out on the right wing. It was unnecessary. The game was won, just needed managing.

I thought certain players embarrassed themselves tonight during that capitulation.

The equaliser is definitely one of the most ridiculous goals I've seen any team concede that late in a big game that they were completely in charge of beforehand.

WTF are they doing trying to play offside virtually on the halfway line. Of course one stays with a runner playing them on and then the keeper does a superman impression 25 yards from goal, leaving a tap in, brainless defending.

The most worrying thing for me though was the lack of any footballing nous when it went 3-1. Nobody took the ball into the corner, taking quick free kicks, nobody going down to break play up, playing a suicidal high line instead of dropping off 10 yards.

Absolutely baffling the lack of any nous.

Conceding 2 or more goals in 6 consecutive games for the first time in many decades says it all about this side.

Confidence is shot , kindergarten defending well not even that level and we can lose games in a few minutes.

Real reset needed at seasons end.
Since May 1963… Almost 62 years!!!

I feel like some are getting very ahead of themselves from his tough run of results. We could have easily won 3-0 today. Instead ended up 3-3. I did see signs of the old City at times today though. We looked very controlled particularly in the first half.

I know the players are getting the bulk of the blame but some of it does lie with Pep. The amount of big chances we create, the vulnerability we have on the counter is down to his shape. Gvardiol and Lewis are often stranded up the and cannot make the ground up we need. I think we will see another tactical evolution soon.

This is still a world class squad. Yes aging in areas. Yes injury prone. Yes has holes within it. But our players have pulled the rabbit out the hat time and time again. Luck isn’t on our side right now. If Haaland nets the 2 at Spurs the game is different.

Credit to Ake aswell coming out in the presser and holding himself well in the media. I think we reinstate the defence of Ake - Dias - Stones - Akanji they are by far our best defenders.

I also think we have to continue to utilise Nunes , Savinho and Doku they give us another edge while players like Bernardo , Grealish etc are perhaps a bit stale on the ball and keep the ball well but don’t penetrate in the way the others do.

I'm in a state of shock after that capitulation, I felt better coming out of the ground on Saturday after being dicked by Spurs.

We've managed to go from the best team in the world to a team so lacking in confidence, drive, energy and ideas within 18 months.

Injuries to key players has hit us hard, recruitment been shit and some players are clearly nowhere near the level required.

I'm genuinely concerned coz I don't see where are next win is coming from, the murderers will embarrass us on Sunday.

Not mad, angry or any of that stuff. Just realistic. We will lose at Juve and PSG. Pray 11 points gets us in the top 24.
In the league we are in a dogfight for a top 4 spot, really a 4th spot, as we will finish behind Liverpool, Arsenal, and Chelsea. If we don't finish in a CL spot our recruitment will be fucked. This fuck of a season has the potential to basically destroy our position as an elite club not just now but going forward. Again not being negative, simply objective about the reality of our situation.
If we don't make the top 4 we become much less important to the PL and the cartel might even have the juice to entice the hearing panel to fuck us right off.
Txiki AND PEP played with fire relying on such a small squad to stay healthy knowing many of our key players are older and in decline and that our depth players are not up to standard. This knowing Pep is not the guy to be driving a truck if need be. He's proven numerous times over he can roll with a Ferrari but doing more with less is just not his forte. He can't get this side to grind out anything. Pep is built for a squad with elite talent all over the pitch. He has no chance of getting anything out of this shell of a squad that he and Txiki chose to go with. These guys aren't going to overcome his idiosyncrasies or go on any long unbeaten runs that we seem to need every year. One needs a squad of elite players to do that.
It is what it is boys and girls. Why the club chose this path or allowed Pep and Txiki to do so God only knows,
But my Lord did we rock for 7 years under the bald fraud!!!!

What a rant of utter drivel…

twenty three pages in and I give up, same shite said over and over and over again -not that that shite is entirely wrong- though, but it is tiresome.

Pep out, Taylor in..... and as the usual chant by argentinian's clubs fans when their players dissapointed them with shambolic displays

¡Que se vayan todos! = Everybody out.

the price we pay for not finishing top8 on this new CL table will be bad. extra two games vs maybe a decent team in February. do we want that given our fixture is like this around that time:
Arsenal-City
City-Newcastle
City-dippers
Spurs-City
Forest-City

last thing we need are two legged games vs any decent European side put into this set of fixtures while Arse and dippers are relaxing. could even be PSG as they are about to finish on the shit end of the table something like 21-22-23-24th place meaning someone from 9-10-11-12th will get them.
also we probably get one injury on each of these extra ties.
Hopefully we finish 25th and just concentrate on the PL 4th spot for the rest of the season and just start a rebuild again next Summer.

I think we are that shit, we need to play as few football games as possible this season.

Pep did say before if the players are not trying/listening to him he will leave. Fucking hope not
If that really was the case he would of stepped down in the Summer. The caveat is if things are the same this time next season then yep he will step down.
