FIFA delegates getting their cummupence! Blatter GONE today.

This is a dog and pony show. A completely fabricated agenda ran by the Western press at the behest and manipulation of their UEFA sources. The problem is that you have to look at the sources and the sources of the sources to really see the fabrication, as pretty much the entire Western sports media has bought into it (which means the entire Western world of sports fans has).

First and foremost, Sepp Blatter is probably the only person in this argument who isn't corrupt. I'm sure he's played his politics like anybody to get to the top but he's pretty much whiter than white like all of the people at the top usually are. Evidence against Blatter would have already surfaced by now if there was any to surface.

You have to realise what this is about. It isn't about cleaning up FIFA and never has been, it is about UEFA wanting to commercialise the game across the world like it has done with the Champions League by favouring the richer countries over the smaller countries.

Blatter is and has always been elected by the smaller nations. He believes in spreading the wealth around the world and using football as a platform for social change. UEFA believe that this policy has meant that the $4billion they get from the World Cup commercial revenue is undervalued, and just like the CL and FFP, losing the bigger nations means a World Cup is worth less. Blatter believes that the vote of England is just as important the vote by Peru and nobody should be favoured by a global body.

Let's look at THE FACTS for a minute. The Qatar World Cup bid was almost entirely supported by UEFA and opposed by Blatter and the smaller nations. Platini voted for Qatar as did Villar, Qatar played quid-pro-quo with investments in Spain and France to secure the influence of those FIFA Vice Presidents who sit on the ExCo and vote on the World Cup. Prince Ali was nailed on as voting for Qatar already due to being supported in his Vice President elections by UEFA. Smaller nations don't vote on the WC host, only the ExCo does.

This is the thing that nobody here is seeing. Prince Ali is and always has been a UEFA puppet, all of his support comes from there. Blatter is propped up by the African and Asian nations who want a fair shot at things.

This isn't a battle about corruption, it's a battle between Platini and Blatter and corruption is being weaponised by one side. If you lads want to pitch your hat with a man who has proposed that the CL Final should be in Dubai, handed the World Cup to Qatar and invented FFP then so be it.

You're all on the wrong side because the media is buying Platini's bullshit. Are you not even a little suspicious that the same media whores like Rob Harris and Henry Winter who trot out that City are ruining football because we're breaking up their cartel are now like attack dogs on Blatter? Did that not strike you as odd that a cartel supporting bunch of pricks suddenly want to clean up the game and have found a morality that they don't apply in Europe?

An extremely interesting and convincing take on things that I had never even considered...thanks for an alternative insight Damo

Cheers Damo, that made very interesting reading. Do you honestly believe Blatter to be innocent? I know that he's used the smaller nations as his power base, and I find it hard to believe that he wasn't party to or at least know about the corruption within FIFA.
As for Platini, he's a snake, and I doubt his hands are clean. He upset our owners and I don't think they will be in a hurry to forget. If they ever get the chance to stick the knife in, they will. They're just clever enough to wait until its to their advantage.

Absolutely no chance. He'll control FIFA in about a week's time because people are idiots.

Not if Dupont's court case forces the EC to investigate the driving forces behind the FFPR he won't. Seeing as Dupont has filed a complaint of maladministration with the EC ombudsman over Munia being involved they look likely to be pushed to investigate.

If there have been crimes, then I hope the culprits are caught and punished, but I don't care much about international football and its seedy politics and boring tournaments.

An alleged £150 million scandal over two decades is very small beer compared to all the other corruption and waste going on in business and government so I don't see why this is such big news or why Cameron needs to comment.

For example The Scottish Parliament building cost £300 million more than its original £50 budget and Barclay's Bank has just been fined £285 million for manipulating exchange rates.

FIFA is a storm in a teacup.

I believe Blatter to be innocent of taking brown envelopes but expect he does the quid-pro-quo as everybody else in politics does to some extent. The problem is that he's the wrong target to be focusing on, the President is a figurehead position in FIFA and doesn't come with many major responsibilities outside of political influence. The World Cup went to Russia and Qatar because of the ExCo who are the only ones eligible to vote on it rather than the larger Congress which is where Blatter's powerbase is. He doesn't have a powerbase on the ExCo.

And look at its members (when the WC was voted on):

FIFA President
Senior Vice President
Vice Presidents
Members
Issa Hayatou and Jack Warner are both under investigation for corruption as Bin Hamman, Chuck Blazer and Jacques Anouma have been. idiot-joon is a big proponent of the "let's make money with big countries" model. Grondona is dead. The only really senior people who don't want to switch to the UEFA model is Blatter, everybody else is suspiciously under investigation for corruption or has been disqualified for it

I think it would be incredibly naive to say Blatter is innocent. And I would be absolutely "startled" if it turned out he had no idea of the corruption within the organisation under his watch, let alone be involved in it.

Personally, I think he'll be a little worried right now as I would hazard a guess at least one of those arrested has some info on him, and may well offer it up as a bargaining chip in the coming months.

Guilty or not personally, he is president and therefore carries full responsibility.

Interesting post from Damocles an of course there is a huge political chess game being played out here with them all after one thing, power but it doesn't mean Blatter should walk away scot free.

It is not corruption at FIFA that worries me about international football.

It's international breaks, especially the ones just after the season has got started.

They should jail the people responsible for that idea.

If you are correct then surely that connection has already been made by the FBI ?
If so would their discussions with UEFA be already part of the evidence the FBI hold ?

The problem at FIFA has always been in its branding. The President doesn't actually do anything, he is more their PR representative and ChairPerson to their meetings. The corruption at FIFA is institutional because up until very recently when the Ethics Committee started getting sorted out, there was nobody to stop it or had the political clout to do anything about it. My issue now is that this corruption that has gone on unchallenged forever whilst it suited certain members is getting called out against their political opponents. Hans Joachim Eckert is the one who should be targeted because it is his job to find and route out this corruption. And he has done. Coincidentally as a German he has found that all the UEFA members and their allies are spotless and whilst everybody else is bent as a nine bob note, and there was no significant corruption in the votes to hand the World Cups to UEFA member Russia or UEFA backed Qatar.

It's very much bullshit all around
