No PSG either, so it's open season as regards sponsorship and ways around FFPR.

UEFA names 6 clubs facing FFP scrutiny, but closes book on 25 others

November 22 -

Six clubs are to be investigated for possible breaches of UEFA's financial fair play regulations as European football's governing body implements its drive to clamp down on over-spending and loss-making clubs.

Vitoria from Portugal, Ukraine side Metalurg Donetsk, Skonto of Latvia, Poland's Slask Wroclaw and Romanian duo Pandurii Targu Jiu and Petrolul Ploiesti - all involved in European competition this season - have been cited by UEFA as possible culprits.

"The UEFA Club Financial Control Body (CFCB) investigatory chamber, chaired by Jean-Luc Dehaene, has announced that six clubs involved in the 2013/14 UEFA club competitions have been referred to the CFCB adjudicatory chamber," UEFA said in a statement, adding that a verdict is expected in all six cases before the end of the year.

UEFA said the cases of a further 25 clubs who had possibly been in breach of the rules had been closed.

While the overall impact of the financial fair play rules continues to be hotly debated, UEFA has consistently pointed to a fall in outstanding debts as proof that the rules are benefiting the football business generally. http://www.insideworldfootball.com/worl ... -25-others

Re: Financial Fair Play will not affect us.

Don't know if this has been mentioned yet, but Intel have sponsored Barcelona to the tune of £25 million pounds over 5 years.

The catch.

Intel's name is on the inside of the shirt, is very faint, and can only be seen when the bottom of the shirt is lifted up. :-?

Interesting, if true. As you say, if PSG can get away with what they've done, then it would seem that investment in clubs can continue unabated.

Doesn't that just refer to clubs that are not paying the bills? They're not due to announce penalties on "overspenders" until March/April?

That's right. We won't have submitted audited accounts for 2012/13 yet.

Re: Financial Fair Play will not affect us.

As a marker I keep on going back to our Summer transfer spending, which was in the region of £90 million.

Surely if the club had any concerns whatsoever about meeting UEFA's FFPR requirements, it wouldn't have spent that kind of money on players, rather it would have diverted some of those funds towards meetings UEFA's FFPR?

I appreciate all that money won't have been paid upfront, but a large percentage of it would have been. Not to mention Agent's fees, etc.

Re: Financial Fair Play will not affect us.

Likely "only" equates to around £20m/year max on the books - offset by lower wages and contract extensions and sales.

You are forgetting the magic word...... Amortization

This is the way the accountants spread the cost of a player over the length of his contract.

So if those players we bought in the summer had (on average) 4 year contracts, then actually it would only be about £22.5M per season, and nothing to do with what was actually handed over up front.......

Re: Financial Fair Play will not affect us.

Any ideas when our accounts will be released? Usually they are released by now aren't they?
