He has made a rod for his own back and City by giving the world media a stick to hit us with if it all goes tits up.

He also has had a right go at Bobby in the public domain, double standards as far as I can see. Ferran did NOT have to air our dirty washing in public but he chose to do so.

Bobby up to this moment has chosen to keep his council and I respect him for that.

Bobby will have signed a non disclosure agreement
Or he just has a bit of class and doesnt want to shit stir...

He doesn't have the choice - he will have signed an NDA - standard procedure.

To credit him with class for not doing something that he could not do anyway without severe financial ramifications seems very odd.

Class and vision.

Was always going to be the case. Anyone who's seen the famous Barca documentary will know how these guys operate and what they're all about.

I think we really can't underestimate the commercial aspects of what we're trying to achieve in the US with the Yankees tie up and NYCFC, and the long term positive impact it'll have on both our balance sheet, and our perceived stature as a top club in world football.

Probably not the right thread to say this, but I decided recently to stick some money on City being the only club other than Barcelona which Messi will play for in Europe in his career. If there's one thing I'm certain of, it's that Messi is not for Barca for more than another season or two.

The great thing is that whereas 5 years ago when similar comments were expressed about matching Utd etc. the media laughed at City, now they listen and believe.

Getting to this position has taken a lot. It's clear that both Cook & Mancini were vital to get us to the next level, but now the new guys are clearly right to kick us on to where we ultimately want to be. All part of the Sheikh's long term plans which in 2008-09 the football world laughed at, but now it's happening.

Utd had decades to ensure they contributed around the world in terms of community and to build strategic links with major sports organisations and cities around the world but didn't. They focused on selling merchandise in the far east etc. City are working to a robust plan that will ensure longevity and an increase in support for City partly because we contribute around the world, we don't just take. The future is Blue.

Agreed. I think the media is still off the pace with respect to what City are doing and the long term thinking and implications behind the City project but they are listening more and Ferran's interview was timely and fascinating. The Telegraph have published the transcript of the interview if anyone wants to hear what Ferran said without any interpretation.

Transcript

I am intrigued to know what else City have in the pipeline with respect to commercial deals and the talk about natural cycles with respect to the manager or coach makes sense. Anyway phase 1 is over with the departure of Cook and now Mancini and phase 2 starts with Ferran and Txiki running the show. Its going to be an exciting ride.

why do you think that about messi?

If you listen to the wat Ferran is talking about a city family being developed (like they did at Barca) then you can see that messi is part of that ethos at Barca

Im not saying you are wrong but why do you think that he would leave? He seems extremely happy there and despite their champs league exity this year they are still the best footballing team int he word for me

If Roberto Mancini signed a non-disclosure agreement the club will have done the same. Roberto Mancini has class.

As for the rest of the interview, ask me in 2 years time, I might keep this article somewhere safe and refer to it then.

ONWARD AND UPWARD WITH MANCHESTER CITY, THE BOYS IN BLUE NEVER GIVE IN.

Very open and interesting interview. About time Soriano did tbh. Makes a lot of sense the things he says. It was sad Mancini had to go (and more sad the way he was sacked, but is there a good way?) but I feel Pellegrini will be the right man in the right place at the very right moment of time within the project. Like the man says, it's another cycle. Future is bright and blue lads!

There is always one......

Actually, the Mark Ogden interview in the telgraph is much better... Direct questions and direct answers... i guess all the other 'exclusives' originate from this...
