Five years that's all we got.

Hazard decided to go to Chelsea after they won the Champions League. Simple as that. They also agreed to buy his brother as part of the deal.

De Rossi was never really committed, and they wanted £40m.

We told Arsenal we were only prepared to go to £15m for a player in his final year, so Van Pussy decided to listen to the little boy inside. Arsenal played a blinder and used our name to get over £20m. Mancini stupidly rejected the interest from PSG, despite Mario wanting to leave.

Then there's the small matter of FFP. We were never really in a position to blow people out of the water as soon as Sergio's moment hit the back of the net.

All smoke and mirrors, creative deals for sub-standard replacements and poor scouting.

IMO, we should have two more Premier League title wins to our name, and our golden generation were a few yards away from really taking advantage of United and Chelsea's drop off.
Wise words indeed...

And you're in loony toons land if you think the quality of our signings in 2012, the treatment of the manager and the disgraceful episode on FA Cup final day was all about FFP.

Truly sickening :(
One of the lowest days of my life that day at Wembley when we did the dirty on Mancini

I think to add value to this you need to specify the year and the points won by City and the points required to win the league

Honestly, what is the point in posting threads like this? what an absolute tool the opening poster comes across as.

Give your head a wobble and try looking on the very bright side of our wonderful club.

Good assessment of the last 5 years.

Thank you sir, so in seven seasons we consistently successfully qualified for champions league (I'm adding this season as couldn't possibly co template missing out to the rags), won the title twice narrowly on high points but have had 4 very poor seasons from a league challenge perspective with 71, 78, 79 or 66 points
We've picked up 3 cups (possibly 4) and reached Champions League Semi Final. I believe MCFC upper management count that as 3 major trophies possibly 4 - not sure they see that as a success!?

As a City fan we could only have dreamed of this success before the investment so my advice is enjoy the ride blues as you never know when this success may end. I think most will agree there have been many Barriers put in front of us in an attempt to stop us, somewhat successfully but all being said the situation looks fantastic for MCFC for the future, there is certainly no other club I would rather be a fan of with our current situation.

Last season was the only poor one, despite the cup results. We're already only 5 points off that 66 point mark with 7 games left and I'd expect us to finish with between 75 and 79 points looking at the fixtures so I'm not overly worried about that, it would be a decent points total for a transitional season and it's obvious where we need to improve in the summer.

Attaching too much importance to the cups is silly as they're a bit of lottery, one tough draw or bad performance and you're out as we've all seen plenty of times, I put them in there more to show the amount of games we had to get through.

We're in a good spot if we bring the right players in at full back/goalkeeper, the likes of Sané, Sterling, Stones and Jesus should be stronger next season, Aguero, Silva and KDB will have a much better grasp of what the manager wants and hopefully Gundogan will have better luck on the injury front. Chelsea and the dippers will have European competition to deal with next season, I'd expect us to be a lot closer to Chelsea and well ahead of the dippers. Hopefully ahead of Chelsea. Spurs are in glass ceiling territory as well, there's no obvious way to improve on their playing staff without a serious change in attitude towards transfer fees and wages, they're young though so they should still improve again next season.

its all if and buts now and we will never know if mancini would have took us on to the so called next level

that's the only puzzle with me and the club what do they see as the next level europe/champions league well for me is not a option even with pep.uefa have put up to many blocks and FFPR and squad reduction and officials and ref's means will are fighting a lost course and we should know that and why don't we take them on off the field of play and have them in court stand up for there believes for reaching that next level

so from the time mancini was sacked the club in my book have been playing a waiting game and hoped pep as some power at uefa and makes them change there minds on manchester city just like if we sign messi or ronaldo how can you stop the so called best manager and players you want them in finals and doing well its good for tv. look we all are grown up people we know football is bent and funny things happen and clubs get the rub of the green more than others and maybe money will have to change hands ??? if we are ever going to see manchester city winning the champions league (what's good for the goose is good for the gander)
