Just to be clear, this was the scenario we had prior to the TV moving the games. We were due to play 31/12 and 2/1 with one day in between (with the rest of the league) and now we play 1/1 and 3/1 with one day in between.
So there's no difference in the time between the games now as before just the hassle of changing arrangements already made.
The difference is that Liverpool get twice as long to recover. Which is an unfair advantage.

Let's not go over the top and think this is attempted sabotage, if we are gonna win the league we will not lose it on one game over new year. The positive side of the Chelsea move is that we now get extra recovery time after the vital munich match in champs league. Swings and roundabouts guy!

I'm not disagreeing with that, I'm just pointing out we have the same amount of time between our games now than we did before they changed the games.

Here is the rule for Thursday nights on channel 5:
A Club engaged in any match played in a UEFA competition on a Thursday evening and a
League Match on the following Saturday may rearrange the League Match to the following
Sunday provided that:
7.1 it gives notice to that effect to the Secretary and to its League Match opposing Club
within 72 hours of the date of the UEFA match being fixed (or, if the period of 72 hours
expires on a day which is not aWorking Day, by close of business on the firstWorking
Day thereafter);
7.2 there is no police objection;

7.3 the rearrangement of the League Match does not result in the opposing Club having to
play another League Match, F.A. Cup match or UEFA match within 2 days of the
rearranged League Match being played.
Surely this logic should be applied to our case with liverpool and the liverpool game should be put back or the sunderland game brought forward.
