Off to the airport now for 2 night trip to Manchester. Oh well
not in my house. No, but they’ll be shoved in front of the box and told to watch history unfold, whilst be bored out of their minds.
Not for me mate, no real interest in euro footy. The cricket is tempting, but watch the rain fuck that up now, lolWon't be the same but Inter v Torino and Sampdoria v Milan are on BT from 5pm, so I will probably watch them to fill the time I would have been at the game and having a post match drink
Are them lot at home then, you know who? Sorry, would them lot have been at homeFrom the Mail talking about the nonsensical decision to postpone games. Doesn’t mention any specific clubs but I think we all know who they may be alluding to.
Concern that tributes to the Queen may not have been universally respected — and the potential for global embarrassment in the event of any dissent from fans — was a factor in the decision to call off all football in the United Kingdom this weekend.
A number of Shamrock Rovers supporters caused outrage by singing offensive songs during their Europa Conference League game against Swedish club Djurgardens on Thursday evening.
And while their actions are likely to have stemmed from Irish Republican sentiment, the fact that some English clubs also have politicised elements of their fan base was mentioned in the discussions over football’s shutdown
Several Premier League clubs appear to have implicitly recognised this danger themselves, as they opted to disable the reply function on Twitter after posting messages of condolence to the Royal Family on Thursday evening.
This was presumably an attempt to avoid inciting a backlash from anti-monarchists on a forum that is not renowned for reasoned debate.
no chance next weeks are off imo unless the funeral is on saturdayNext weekends game had better not be called off, looking 50/50 at the minute though
Many media outlets e.g. TalkSport and Sky Sports News have pushed the “respect” line and totally agreed with the Football cancellation. BBC's Radio 5 Live is the exception. Different presenters have said, as we have here, that the fans should have had the chance to gather together and pay respect to the queen during the matches. Good on you BBC.Looks like the premier league and EFL have shown how out of touch they are again and have jumped in fear of backlash, despite Government officials saying the games can be played. The Queen loved her sport, I can not think of a better send off than football grounds being full around the country all weekend paying respects with minutes silences and belting out the national anthem. What a joke.
