Wirtz is a German homeboy. Guy isnt leaving Germany.
United are about as appealing as Southampton. With KDB departing City this summer I would argue we should really go for both Wirtz & Cherki due to the alarming lack of creativity this season.
There's no point Haaland signing up for 10 years if we can't get the ball to him.
I would also say Cherki does have some Mahrez vibes to his skillset with a bum of the seat type of player. I can't him signing for us as I think he'll want to move to a side where he'll be playing on a weekly basis, which isn't us.
My is fear is Cherki running rings around United for Lyon later on this week & ending up signing for them similar to the Ronaldo & Sporting story.
Appalling, not appealing.United are about as appealing as Southampton.
Maybe….but one should avoid speaking absolutes when they don’t have any unique insight into his thinkingWirtz is a German homeboy. Guy isnt leaving Germany.
If we’re going all in we must be given some encouragement from his entourage.
Obviously there’s Bayern out there and maybe Real. Leverkusen apparently don’t want to sell to Bayern so Leverkusen may suggest a premium price for Bayern. Real it’s never clear who they want as they usually are linked to all the best players.
Leverkusen still have an outside chance of winning the title so I don’t think we’ll hear anything any time soon.
He may be undecided, but if we are still showing strong interest then we can be fairly sure he isn’t saying only Bayern or staying where he is.Thats if the interest reported is real.If the player wants out and only wants Bayern, Leverkusen will have to compromise on price. If anything Bayern have the upper hand, especially as he only has 2 years left on his deal.
They will only get maximum money (~£100m) for him this summer if he doesn't sign a new deal.
From what I have read, I reckon the encouragement on our side is his agent and Leverkusen are pushing for a City sale, but Wirtz is still undecided.
This is my concern, we'll spend all summer chasing a player that doesnt want to come and then get either no replacement for de bruyne or a substandard oneThis has got Bellingham/Rice written all over it. We’ll end up signing the Southampton lad for £80m in the last week of August.
Interchangeable nonethelessAppalling, not appealing.
3 yrsI mean, No shit, this has been the noise for about 3 months now.
Big possibility. Wirtz 's father has been talking to Bayern for ages and then there is Real Madrid. Possibly Alonso's next home. The price would be around 120/130. City won't stump it immediately. This has got Bellingham/Rice written all over it. We’ll end up signing the Southampton lad for £80m in the last week of August.
I think the negativity for this one is just driven by the traditional pipeline to Bayern for top young German players. Credible media folks keep pounding the table that we are at least in so hopefully we pull a rabbit out of the hat on this one. We are clearing Kev's wages so that helps.Given our success, our fanbase is peculiarly negative when it comes to whom we may sign. I have no idea whether we will sign Wirtz or Tom Cobbly and all, but we are in the mix for the world's very best players. We have the money, and have been one of Europe's elite for more than a decade.
