Florian Wirtz

Wasn't comparing him to current Jack.
Grealish season before we signed him vs Wirtz

Both 26 appearances

Goals - 6 < 10
Assists - 10 > 9
Chances created - 81 > 50
Take ons - 65 < 73
Take ons % - 65% > 52%
Tackles - 31 > 30
Interceptions - 12 > 7

Wheres twice the player coming from? Jack had better stats for a worse team in a harder league.
How did David Silva show up on stats? They vastly understated his influence. As others have stated, Wirtz has proven to be an influential player in a title winning team. At a similar age Grealish was getting relegated from the premier league whilst breaking a record for most defeats (thanks Wiki)

I'm a fan of Grealish, but Wirtz does look like he's got much more pedigree

Neighbour stuck his head through the hedge and inform me that Klopp is going to Madrid, replacing Ancelotti, next season.
He headed back into his house without giving me any further details.

Bingo to Madrid, just wait....

Could be happening.
Ancelotti confirmed he is leaving.

You can play with 1 DM, an 8 ( Wirtz) and Musiala as thd 10.
You can, but Wirtz has hardly ever played as an 8. He may or may not have some concerns about going and not playing in “his” position.

Wirtz is for sure a Bayern type signing (cherry picking the best from their league), but maybe the timing isnt great this time around. Be interesting to see how it plays out…

Silva actually shows up brilliantly in stats and clears them both in multiple seasons. Particulalry in creative stats, possession ones and his defensive work was far superior.
And at that age De Bruyne was on loan at a midtable Werder Bremen, now hes the best Prem midfielder of all time.

Anyway I wasn't arguing at Jack being better I was arguing that Wirtz isn't twice the player Jack was at Villa and that they are similar. We didn't spend 100mil on him for no reason. If we're being honest, Pep has ruined him and never used him to his full potential. Used him purely as a tool for control, which has been an utter waste of his talent...individually of course, obviously the team has benefitted as we've won a lot in that time.

Grealish ruined himself with his party boy lifestyle.

Weird how every other creative player has thrived under Pep, but for him.

KDB was never going to stay, he's been broken for 2 seasons, physically he's done.

People getting carried away from a great performance against Palace, his first decent game for months.

The guy is a legend but on 350k plus a week, he was never going to stay and neither should he.

The club have learnt a harsh lesson for keeping the likes of Walker, Bernardo and Gundo one season too many.

Ruthlessness is needed to keep at the top.
We hope the club have learned the lesson. Januarys window suggests they have but they need to carry on in the next window.

I'm not sure he ruined him, but he did restrict him. You could tell from the start that Grealish was a bit in awe of some of our other players like De Bruyne - it's very hard for someone to stamp their authority on a team led by such a strong character.

However, Grealish has won 3 league titles and champs league since joining us, I'm sure he'd take that as a success even if we'd have all preferred him to have had a lot more free reign

PSG have no striker, yet they are maybe the best team in the world right now.

Liverpool are playing mostly without Striker, & they are top of the league.

Arsenal had DM ( Merino ) playing as a false 9, yet they are ok :)

Madrid will get Arnold for free, and they will get some of their injured players for next season.

Even with you think is a weak defence, they managed to beat us & Ateltico and they are just 4 points behind Barcelona.
Their defence is weak and they’re top 4 because of referee controversies and the fact that the rest of the league outside of top 5 are fooder. Newcastle, Villa and Chelsea could give Madrid a game rn.

11 goals and 11 assists last year in winning Bundesliga player of the season and carrying his team to the title (at the age of 20).
He didn’t “carry” them to the title haha! Did you watch them? They had 5 or 6 players that over performed and got them where they were. Wirtz contributed but to say he “carried” them is ridiculous

Alright, I'm just saying he was quality, as evidenced by his player of the season award.

Alonso to us when Pep leaves?
I think there’s an element that Pep won’t leave until there’s someone ready to take it on.

Alonso he’d love because he wanted him here before and look how well he’s done. He’d probably love Arteta here but wouldn’t happen.

Kompany is always an option and then you have the Gundo option. Get him coaching the youth team when he’s done like Pep did at Barca and see if he’s ready.
