Florian Wirtz

So now it's seemingly down to us or Real, interesting.

Hopefully Pep's insistence and work behind the scenes (I can't imagine Alonso has done the same unless he's known for months that he'd be at Madrid by the Summer?) will work like it has done in the past.

There’s no way Madrid—willingly or otherwise—let go of so many high-profile names. They’re too proud, too ambitious. Being the Galácticos isn’t just a phase for them—it’s their identity, their brand. And you know that as well as anyone.

Modrić is the obvious one to phase out due to age—that much seems inevitable. When it comes to the core of their starting eleven, Rodrygo, Vinícius, and Camavinga are key names. I just can’t see three of that core leaving at the same time. It’s not how Madrid operates, they do not operate on sense, but GREED.

I don’t see both Rodrygo and Vini leaving—it won’t be both. If anyone is sacrificed, it’s more likely to be Rodrygo, unless Vini suddenly decides to chase the Saudi money and asks to leave. But let’s be honest—Vini is obsessed with Madrid. Despite all the abuse he’s endured, he bleeds white. He'd rather stand his ground and stay a Madridista. These players know what it means to wear that shirt. Playing for Madrid means competing alongside other stars, being part of the Galáctico legacy they grew up watching.

As for Tchouaméni—who’s more of a defensive anchor—and Camavinga, who thrives box-to-box, it’s possible one might be sold. But even then, both have shown they’re willing to rotate and wait their turn. If they do decide to move Camavinga on, that opens the door for Jude to take the No. 8 role—his natural position—and allows someone like Wirtz to slot into the 10, if Madrid want him, and if Wirtz wants Madrid. It’s a potential reshuffle that keeps the midfield dynamic without compromising quality.

Out of those four, the only truly expendable player—realistically—is Rodrygo.

Madrid are too Greedy to make those changes, instead they will still want to replace a star player with another star player.
For me they have issues, especially with Mbappe/Vinni.

To get the best out of Mbappe he has to play wide left, he is not a striker and to do that Vinni goes where?

Madrid are becoming what PSG were with their "superstar " front 3, too many ego's and not enough workrate and in the big games they get found out.

If Alonso or Bingo end up their I can see big changes and a few ego's challenged.

If Alonso has wirtz, mbappe, Bellingham, endrick, diaz, guler and Rodrigo he is gonna have major issues
Especially with a new right back who can’t defend
Too many attackers, big ego’s and no balance

Wirtz should stay well away……not that he will

Not to mention Vinicius! There are rumours of Saudi for him, mind...

I'd imagine if they get Wirtz then they'd be selling a few of them - Diaz, Guler and Rodrygo mainly. I wouldn't be surprised if Endrick is gone in a season or two, though.

But they'd need to sell them before they got Wirtz. Not just financially, but can they take the risk of leaving one of those out of squads? Imagine how that would look to other players thinking about joining them.

Personally, if I was Wirtz, I'd be looking at the fact we're rebuilding this Summer and our talisman is going - it's a chance for Wirtz to come here at the start of the rebuild, with the best manager in the world, on immense wages and being the one who is being passed the torch from arguably the club's best ever player. Or go to Madrid just for Alonso, have no guarantees of playing and no guarantee that Alonso succeeds and stays.

Add to that the fact we've been in touch with him for months selling the project and personal calls from Pep (they go a long way, ask Ederson, Gundo, Jesus and even Messi who would be here if it wasn't for contract semantics) and I reckon we're in with a very good shout.

I'd imagine Bayern have done the same, though, but if last night's rumours are true then fantastic.

You’re completely right—they’ve got issues, and on top of that, they’re far too proud and stubborn to let go of Vini. It’s public knowledge that Mbappé prefers the left wing, yet they still went ahead and bought him, fully knowing Vini already owns that spot.

To get the best out of Mbappe he has to play wide left, he is not a striker and to do that Vinni goes where?
True, but Vini doesn’t want to leave. Brazilians and Spanish superclubs—it’s like moths to a flame. He was offered crazy money just a few months ago to play in Saudi, but he turned it down because he wants the prestige of playing for Madrid and a real shot at the Ballon d'Or. He’s driven by ego—it is what it is. Unless Madrid themselves sanction the sale, there’s no way that boy packs up and leaves on his own.

Yep, let’s see if they’ve learned anything from PSG by the time the transfer window reopens. Maybe if PSG actually win the UCL, Madrid might take a page from their book and finally let go of one or two egos!"

If Alonso or Bingo end up their I can see big changes and a few ego's challenged.
It’s usually Pérez who handpicks the players, so Alonso will have to work with whatever the old man decides. That said, I agree—Alonso will challenge those egos, and that could actually benefit Madrid in a big way.

Wirtz is Good but yeah there‘s
Only 1 Musiala sadly.
Also I think in terms of creation input Wirtz isn’t even close to Cherki. No one is to be real. But Wirtz is an effective player and Lev play far better with him than without him

"Wirtz isn't even close to Cherki"
I rate Cherki but only mainly been this season he stats looking top!

But>>

Florian Wirtz has the best footballing stats compared to Rayan Cherki, based on higher goal and assist numbers, better expected metrics, greater work rate, and proven success in tougher competitions. Cherki is having a strong 2024/25 season and shines in dribbling, but Wirtz's overall output and consistency give him the edge.

Alonso would be taking a huge risk going there so early in his management career and even more so with a dressing room with a lot of issues looking in from the outside.

Bingo would not put up with that from day one, for me he is the perfect candidate for the job but his ego is huge and he and Perez could be fireworks and Bingo is the type who would walk if he did not get his own way.

For me Bingo did not leave the dippers due to burn out, I think he was starting to see he was losing a few in the dressing room (Salah especially) and left before it really kicked off.

Lol, unfortunately, those entitled Real Madrid prats would probably want to test his resolve just to see if they can walk all over him. If he got defeated by Salah, imagine having 15 of those prats that are much worse than Salah!

I would pay good money to watch a confrontation with Bingo, Bellingham, Vinni and Mbappe.

I’d love us to have a go at getting Arda Guler. Very talented

Don't come for my head please but am I the only one who feels like this guy isn't all that he's made to be? I have seen the highlights and I am not impressed. An in-form Phil or maybe even Bobb (he's shown signs), can easily do the job. Now, if it was an actual game changer like Musiala, then I would say go all in but this guy? Not really crazy about this one to be honest.
Even though I knew he’d extend, I still wept when Musiala signed that contract extension. He’s easily my first pick every time.

He has a release clause? Wonder if we miss out on Wirtz we go after him.
Yes €175M.

Bayern want to have both—Musiala and Wirtz. The two are close friends, and if Wirtz ends up joining Bayern, you can bet part of the appeal is getting to play alongside his mate. With that in mind, I really doubt Musiala would want to leave for City. Why would he, when he could stay at Bayern, play with his best friend, and be the face of a new era?

Not sure how I missed Vini jr
He’s the main one!

I’ve said this before - few rumours of Saudi being in for Vini. I can easily see madrid taking the cash for him. Mbappe then plays on the wing. I think he causes a bit of a problem there. A very selfish player in my opinion, and I think they’d be better off to get him out and spend the cash from selling him.
