Florian Wirtz

We have
Was never coming.

I’m pleased we’ve fucked him off early and moved on.

Plenty of fish in the sea.
Well that's the problem.

High quality creative central players at that level..... there aren't any available ....especially if we ain't going to pay the money

£500k minimum you say?

Regardless your maths is off, Haaland's is over 10 years, Wirtz would be €300m over 5 years.
Mate . Haaland earns like 525k a week and he’s gonna earn that for 10 years. There is no money issue. That’s the point. He just rejected us. They’ve known about Wirtz forever. They knew he would cost a lot it’s just poor PR work

Bar Haaland (even then it’s debatable as he’s so young), when have we ever purchased the finished article?
Well, considering we usually buy a player who has already played at the top level, and is usually a full international already, and spend €50M for them, I’d say fairly often!

And, if you think Haaland wasn’t considered “the finished article,” as opposed to a “development player bought young and for under €30M,” then I’m not sure what your metrics are.

I can't be arsed typing it all out again so consider this my reply, lol.

Decent essay. It doesn’t sound ambitious I’m afraid. I’m sorry but I hate losing this season has been awful. I can’t imagine us not winning stuff next season again. We’re finishing with less points than Pep’s first season. I dont think you understand how bad that is. Yes you can’t fix all your problems in one window but you can improve significantly if you fix your biggest issues. Even 2 signings change our lives.

I agree with Pep having one more title in him. I personally wanna see him win the CL one more time. I’m not overly fussed about names this season I’m more interested in the system and the traits/qualities we need.

I do love your point of bringing back the good vibes. Playing scintillating football, winning games, signing exciting players that get you off you feet. That will make everyone stand up and one of my favourite ways is making an academy kid get mins and see them shine. That makes everyone’s day. To produce our own star would be great. Mukasa maybe anyway. I do think not all is lost. We can get someone like Cherki who absolutely love watching, Rodrygo, Reinjders, Nouri and a great RB like Munoz or Vanderson and that is still a 10/10 window that’s more than enough to win titles provided Pep lets go of a number of players and realises that his needs changing and more freedom.

Aguero, Silva, yaya, Fernandinho, tevez, KDB, sterling, mahrez

I think I responded to wrong post lol.
These were all the finished article

If we don't get a top quality central attacking and creative midfielder we will agsin struggle next season to break teams down...

We will sign some “prospect” from Girona instead or raid Serie A for an old 30 something as a stop gap.

Or get two midfielders to make the midfield stable and then spend a chunk of money on attackers that can provide numbers. Like PSG are set up. Midfield is stable and barley scores, goals and assists come from out wide and full backs. Hakimi , Mendes , Barcola , Dembele and Doue

If his mind was set on Munich and his helicopter parents wanted him to go there all along, then he's the fool, not us. In the end, Bayern is going to win the title again. Having Wirtz there really makes no difference. So, next season, when they win the league with Wirtz, it will read, "Bayern win title again. Wirtz happy with decision."

Of course the Club are going to put out that he was too expensive - because he is! No amount of money would likely have convinced his parents to convince their son to come here. We gave it a go. He probably intended to go to Munich all along but gave us a look. And that's it. And yes, we've known about Wirtz forever, but we never expected the jump off the cliff like we've had this season. So we bring him in last year? What about KDB? Would have been an even bigger PR bungle than we've had telling Kevin he's being moved on. We can't be perfect.

Exactly mate. We can’t be held hostage by one player even before he arrives.

Fuck all that…

The world is full of good players, we just need to find 2/3.

Fingers crossed. It’s not impossible but difficult and that should be acknowledged.

A couple of Alvarez and Dave/bernie silva signings would be immense. Add in 2 combative energetic defensive minded fullbacks and we can start to squeeze teams again.

Think we are all ready to say goodbye to a lot of wonderful players that won it all. Last season I was not.

Good luck to most but a few have most certainly taken the piss this time around.

Cherki attitude issues are to do with him in training, he's not a good trainer according to info online very lazy during training. But he's got 19 assists and 12 goals this season with Wirtz not coming surely he's worth a gamble.

As others have posted, Wirtz has chosen Bayern, and we've pulled out.

There is absolutely no point in chasing a player who doesn't want to play for City.

I don’t agree that calling him expensive is the right call. It’s made all the fans have a melt down. He’s not too expensive. That’s the thing. Nobody is too expensive when you desperately need their abilities. Especially when they come out saying Olmo is an alternative. That just makes things worse. He plays like 1600 mins for the last 3 seasons. Muscular injuries since 2021. The club literally said they only want players that can play every 3 days. I just want consistency and intent.

Talking about the season we had. Nobody expected it but the club ignored the warning signs last season (every time Rodri was out we stunk and we had no business winning the league it took a ballon dor campaign and Foden playing out of skin to win POTY)

The club could’ve planned for Kevin’s successor like they did with getting Rodri before we phased out Fernandinho. Who taught Rodri the ropes and that would’ve been great to see Kev be a mentor, I doubt anyone would’ve hated that.

I’m not asking the club to be perfect. They’ve missed out on 3 first choice targets now. It’s not acceptable but life’s a bitch. They can still rectify their mistakes and show intent in the market.

At least the story is over before the window started. We don’t have to talk about Wirtz again. He made his choice. We can still have a great window

Idk how many times I have to say this but those came when he was 18/19. He’s 22 now. He hasn’t had any issues like that since. He had an ego. Makes sense he was a wonder kid, signed a professional contract in 2019 when he was SIXTEEN. He was playing against grown man at 16. He has an agent that stopped a move to Dortmund that was pretty close. Other than what option is there. Watch atleast 5 games he’s played this season. Easily my favourite player to watch

I cannot understand the mentality of some of you, seriously.
It appears that we have walked away due to the whole package which could have cost us in the region of £300M. Some of you are saying if thats the case why if we knew from the onset what the figures were. Who knows, perhaps after meeting with us, his family thought because of how much we wanted the lad they thought that they could screw us over for more cash. That is only my theory and it may be completely way off the mark
Don`t forget how many times we have walked away from deals whereby either the transfer fee had risen or the players demands.
Did it do us any harm when we turned down/walked away from Harry Kane, Slabhead, Fred and many more. Look at what we`ve won without those.
I keep hearing the shit "just pay the money". I`m glad you`re not into banking and once again City have played it well, assuming it is a money issue.
We`ll find someone else, as we`ve always done but don`t lets forget what we`ve achieved over the past decade or so.
We are rebuilding and for me its an exiting time to see who, what, where, when, and how we will cope in the next year or so.
See the fucking knifes are already out again on Txiki and now his successor. YCNMIU.
I think we need a wirtz more than 3/4 mediocre players especially if the senior but so called outdated and injury prone players are not leaving. We have been buying mediocre players since last 2/3 seasons. Thats the reason we had such a bad season and also we could have such bad season last year as well. Its due to luck (fewer injuries) and pep genious we won the league last year.
What's the priority now ?
A world class player or few good players and hope pep coach them into world class players ?

I would just give this lad a chance:

Claudio Echeverri

Buy MGW and Rudolph and 2 x fb job done.

Phase the older players out and start to introduce more academy.

Proper reset and if anyone world class comes up the go for it.

Barca had to do it not so long ago.

Pep needs new fresh faces.
Who is this Rudolph ?
