Florian Wirtz

Yes but I'm not a big fan of these £100m+ signings. Too much can go wrong. PSG look a lot better now they've abandoned the policy of signing the likes of Neymar, Mbappe and Messi. And Real Madrid signing Mbappe hasn't improved them. No coincidence PSG and Inter are CL finalists. For me, the future lies in signing the right cogs for the machine rather than the biggest available star.

You're right, but sometimes those people are one and the same. Wirtz should be this transfer windows KDB. Sure he's going to cost a lot more but if we'd paid the same amount for KDB back then, would any of us call that a lot of money today? He'd still have been a bargain.

I'm not completely off the idea that Foden can become our superstar in the middle. It's a shame that we'll likely only know after another full season by which point any chance at Wirtz will be gone. But then there is always talent coming through. You might not get like for like but there will be another KDB, and another Wirtz.

I loved that we signed Ake so fine by me

But this is a completely irrelevant statement as they font even play the same positions.

Yes he improves their creative options..so baring in mind they have just won the league at a canter that isnt good right from the off

The bit that you are not acknowledging either is that they have numerous players who score. fair amount of goals in across their forward positions while we dont besides Haaland and potentially Marmoush.
Macalister is a proven winner as well and I think we at one point were considering him as a Gundo replacement but we dithered on it

Do we know if Foden can get it back to the level he was...if its mental issues thats worse than a physical injury as you can recover from those almost with certainty - mental issues can go on for decades for some people even with help.

So while they are improving their creative options ours are not improving unless we bring a third midfielder in on top of the two potential/reported ones we are supposedly bringing in (MGW and Reignders) - while I like the look of Reignders, MGW is average - so are we relying on Reignders to be creative?
We cant rely on our wide players to create either.

That leaves us otherwise hoping that Oscar Bobb or Echevari can step up with the way the squad stands....now I love Oscar Bobb - again he looks like he has huge potential but I thought McAtee was going to make it (he isnt). Echevari -no idea - looks a good prospect but so many do at first and most dont go on to make it.

The other option is to add creativity from our fullbacks....None of our existing options give this...Gvardiol is very good going forward BUT I think his future is at centre half.
I have high hopes that Bobb can provide the outlet we need on the wing. The jury's out on both Doku and Savinho, but in terms of Savio it was his first season in the PL and hopefully he can still be a top quality winger.

MGW might be a good squad player if we paid £40m for him. But to get him now we will have to pay the kind of money you spend on elite world class talent which he obviously is not. The same goes for Reinders.

We will get our pants pulled down and be told it’s £80m+ each for them.

Is it your money? If not why are you arsed?

I’m absolutely shattered. I really believed, right up until the final moment, that it was happening…that he was going to wear our shirt, play in our stadium, become one of us. I’ve never wanted a player this badly. That’s why I’ve been in this thread for months, day in and day out, pushing, hoping, convincing myself and others that we were going to pull it off.

I don’t even know what to say right now. I’m genuinely sorry if I gave anyone false hope or built up your expectations. I wasn’t trying to mislead… I just had complete faith in our board to get this over the line. And to see it all collapse like this… it’s heartbreaking.

Let’s stick together now. We’re still fans of the same club. We still want what’s best for it. And even though this one slipped away, we have to look forward, regroup, and find the next best alternative. But yeah…this one hurts. Deeply.
You're a bit of a muppet aren't you mate?

Because it means less money can be spent elsewhere on other positions

Overspending on average consistently enough is why United are where they are
And yet apparently that’s what we’ve done if you read this very thread, let alone the others. What I find weird then is that we have had one trophy less season this time, yet before that it was 4 in a row, the treble etc. what I conclude by that then is that people are pretty dim, entitled and have very limited knowledge on how it works in the real world.

Its not about signing primadonnas - its about signing quality......

MGW doesnt represent quality - not even close to the level we are needing to replace - not even better than some of what we have had in recent years - you think he is as good as ANY of our main midfielders in their prime? He aint even close - not even in the same ball park - he may not be quite the disaster Nunes and Phillips were but I do think this has got averageness written all over it

Not KDB level obvious.
Is he bernardo level - NO
Is he gundo level. - No
Is he prime Foden level. - No
Rodri level - hahahahahaha - NO!

IS he even Kova level - maybe but that aint a good thing
grealish level - probably -again not a good thing

He doesnt even come close
In your opinion

How will we replace yaya? How will we replace David Silva? Aguero? You dont directly, you develop a new way of playing with different players who have different qualities and you play to their strengths.

Pep will figure it out. If we get Reijnders thats a big step to fortifying the midfield. Rodri comes back and if we can get Foden firing again we have legs, guile and goals. Foden on form is better than Wirtz.
As a scorer, yes. As a creator? I doubt it.

really want to see what will be the final cost. fee to Leverkusen, salary and agent fee. have a bad feeling it will be nowhere near the 300m mark which we leaked that would be too expensive for us.

There is next to no chance he ends up at the dippers, if it's too much of a financial package for City can you really see the dippers going for it.

I think Kova is underated

I had actually discounted/forgotten that we do unfortunately still have the 115/130 officially hanging over us, yes I’m confident it’s going away, but who knows if that’s enough of a seed of doubt when he maybe wants a quick decision made on his future.
