Unless Wirtz has some ties to/reason to prefer Liverpool to us, though, the consensus opinion seems suspect. If I were Wirtz I'd be concerned about:
1) Playing in the C/L next year; and
2) Pending charges against City

#1 is solved - we've qualified for the C/L
#2 who knows? - maybe that's the issue

That’s not the issue, if it was we wouldn’t have signed anyone in last 18 months.

Couching your objection in terms of "over dramatic" is unnecessary.

You think that Wirtz isn't worth the price Liverpool are willing to pay.

I think that he is.

And if he is, and if he's as good in the P/L as I think he'll be, I'm well justified in calling it a disaster - because, if I'm right about Wirtz's quality, we would have let a generational player transfer to one of our main competitors for the P/L title when we might possibly have had him in our squad if only we'd have been willing to pay a little more.

I think if it was a case of paying a little more we would have done.
