Yeah I didn’t mean Doku specifically but players like him who can get to the byline and put crosses into the box. The problem with Doku is his final ball. If he had that he’d be incredible

I think it'll come down to who the full backs are in this, Cambiaso, Livramento can play both sides, Oreilly is a CM etc so can go inside or outside who ever the wide player is here (in my head). Both CMs can pull wide also.

Think we go heavy on CM & FB over a Wirtz alt here.

If the width is being supplied by the DBs then a 4 2 3 1 system could be utilized

The 2 would be Rodri Reinjders
The 3
Marmoush González Foden

We've got loads of back up for the 3. Bobb, Etcheverri, Savinho etc

Not sure we need MGW.

Kovacic Bernardo O'Reilly can help out the 2.

So apart from Reinjders we just need two top quality fullbacks.

The throw away culture is terrible, I’d be very surprised if Wirtz has 1 season during his PL that is as good as Phil’s last season.

Wirtz, you get the feeling is going to be great and does strengthen Liverpool.

But a Foden of last season is his equal or better.
 
We dont need a 10. Will play Marmoush and Foden there with Bobb, Echeverri also helping.

We will re load the midfield with 8's like MGW and Reijnders.

Like people have said Foden has had 1 bad year but the club know the player he is. If he struggles again next season maybe they'll look to strengthen if we still look light at 10.

Midfield 3 of Rodri, MGW, Reijdners with Marmoush and Foden in front of them with full backs overlapping. Thats the shape.
 
If we are talking alternatives, Porto's Rodrigo Mora is the next big thing. I suspect next summer a team is going to throw 100+ million for him. Ridiculous footballer and extremely young too
 
very few alternatives that match speed, pressing abilities, creative brain and nice goal tally.

btw even Bayern struggling to find a similar profile, their plan Bs are Mitoma or Leao, in that case Musiala would be more centrally imo and Mitoma or Leao from the left, while with Wirtz and Musiala it could have been nice swaps all season ...

what people forget Wirtz is very clever tactically, he can easily be an inside forward in a 433 off the wing he may not play as a 10 in dippers system, they could be trying a midfield again with serious stamina and workrate like this season but go with Wirtz-striker-Salah upfront. or in some games he can drop back being a 10 when they need it.

really hope they wont have money left to upgrade on Nunez and Jota as strikers.

Season Foden as had not sure we can totally rely on him

Really do hope he comes back to what we know him from but see the reasoning for Gibbs White
 
I think the best realistic alternative to play the KDB role is banking on Foden to bounce back. Wirtz was the one, other options out there this summer will just be a massive downgrade.
With that said, if we cant replace KDBs role on the transfer market we must still bring in an elite level player. If a player that has been world class over the years here leaves another one must join, even if it's someone who plays a different role in another position. Otherwise we are just doing again what we have done in recent windows, making the squad worse.

From what I read, he's signing a new contract with a 70M Euro release clause.
