Not sure how this came to be about Leeds, but unless you’re a Leeds fan you hate them. Their fans are usually arrogant or itching to argue.
I bet they have a good few who are racist and I can see why it would be intimidating to go as someone of a different ethnicity.

I’ve lived most of my life in Leeds areas and nothing has ever made me change my mind.

My grandad who is 93 even hates them. He’s a rugby league fan and used to follow Bradford northern (bulls) and always tells me even Leeds Rugby fans are arrogant and act like twats

Look at the Leeds crowd against Man Utd. Absolutely no Asians at all. So just Asians are gloryhunters? That's rubbish. Leeds have been successful relatively recently. Won a title under Howard Wilkinson. Then they were in the CL semi-finals.

IMO racism is far better than it was in the 70s but it has changed so that Asians get the brunt of it rather than West Indians - rise of Islamophobia thanks to different political climate.
Apologies for coming across as pedantic but I can see at least one Asian looking guy on the left of the pic just across from the geezer with the yellow Leeds scarf

Great post mate . Out of interest why did you go for City if your dickhead mates were joining bandwagons

Good on you though
Interesting - well Blue has always been my favourite colour since before I even like football according to my parents, plus my best mate and his family at primary school were all big Blues - I've suffered some serious shit from the scousers and RAGs but its been great since 2008 -

Thats why any scouse victory is painful. I know some decent red scousers but any of the Asian ones are absolutely unbearable (includes friends and some family) - sorry im not trying to be racist here (mods)

My lad was born in July 2008 and all he's ever known is City doing well he's been going to games since he was 3 years old and nicked his sisters season ticket since he could have a seat for himself - lucky bugger!!

I am half Iraqi. I am interested in which clubs Asians support. When I first started going to City, school was difficult but I liked being part of Manchester City. I have always felt accepted at City. There's only been the odd time when City fans have p'ssed me off. Once at Bradford in Joe Royle's season in the Premier League, and when some fans used to shout Fenian bastards at any Irish players but they were always tiny in number.

I travel by train a lot between Manchester and Leeds and I have noticed on a match night at Old Trafford there are very large numbers of Asian fans from the Leeds area who travel to support Utd. Recently when a load of trains were cancelled, on the night City played Sporting, and Utd were at home to Brighton, I got the stopping train back to Manchester and it was packed with Asian Utd fans. I asked the group at my table why they didn't support Leeds, and they said it was because Leeds are racist. I have no experience of that but I thought it was interesting. Leeds is very segregated. The only place you see white and Asian together is in student areas. Yorkshire reminds me a lot of Lancashire. Mill towns, and Asian families settling there to work as cheap labour and now of course there's no work. Asian way out is colleges, and trades like pharmacy.

City have never ever been a racist club. In fact just the opposite. I doubt many football clubs would have accepted a German paratrooper immediately after the 2nd world war, and made him a hero. That just shows how decent most City fans are. Most people are decent, even racists. It's a poisonous idea but over the years I have made friends with many racists. They still love their Mum and Dad and their own. It's an idea, like the ideas in Bert's head when he joined the Brownshirts. He wasn't a bad man. There's no such thing. And yet I still want to punch the lights out of the kids who abused Phil and his Mum. How did they get like that? Probably lots of rubbish in this ramble.
We have several members of Asian descent in the Harrogate Blues, some of whom live in Leeds.

Possibly. I took the image from a number in a well known paper that willnot be named! Its got 3-4 photos of Leeds crowd vs Man Utd. All similar. This is a bit speculative and off-topic so I will say no more.

Sorry the guy is right. Don't forget Leeds were very successful in the 1970's under Revie. Asians won't support them because they view Leeds as racist. I have spoken to a fair few Asian guys and as soon as you mention Leeds straight away they say it's a racist club. I would guess many in the London area would say the same about Chelsea and Millwall.
I know Asian Leeds fans and one of them was attacked by Leeds skinheads back in the day. A couple of Sikh mate stopped supporting Leeds when Ken Bates made their shares in Ledsa Utd worthless and they lost a few grand.

I know an Asian Liverpool fan in Leeds but he’s never been to Anfield.

Yorkshire is an interesting place - having worked in and out of Leeds or Halifax for the best part of nearly 17 years. It's definitely pretty split. I've seen a fair bit via cricket to be fair too which has been in the news a fair bit.

The RAGs angle is interesting - the 1st gen Asians who I grew up with - were born 60's and they passed it onto family members - there were still a good few in 70's, 80's but the big Asian influx would have been during 90's and subsequent years. My wife is from London and some of her younger cousins support the RAGs.

My view, our parents were not massive on sport and as we are growing up the majority are influenced by Football plus there was more likely never the affiliation with a town or City so went for whoever was winning.

I'm hoping City can dominate and really bring more fans in - thats what the media are trying their hardest to stop - If we get that level of exposure and uptake - we will absolutely smash those fuckers into the ground
