Agree quite like city square, catering in the stadium is poor though, at Norwich game they had no food, before the game. I took my 4 yr old to his 1st game and thought no problem feed him at half time, bearing in mind it was 5 o clock he had a right to be hungry.
Thanks City he was going mad cos there was no food anywhere managed to find a chocolate bar after walking all round the stadium.
Dropped the ball there city, cheers, no excuse for all food outlets being empty even before kick off.
rant over.
At the time I thought the same, but was told that as it was the last game of the season and the catering for the summer events is done by somebody else, added to not having the contract for next season all the old stock was used up and not replaced. As somebody involved in catering it kind of makes business sense, for the caterers to sell out rather than be disposing of unused food.
Is that why there was very little bottled booze in the fridges, Toby was well pissed off

Re: Food & Drink Prices

Get there early. Eat in the Asda cafe for under a fiver then a few scoops in Mary D's all done for less than a meal deal in the ground.

Re: Food & Drink Prices

went to one of those taste testing sessions at the ground a while back.Apparently those there were the most disullussioned about the catering etc.We had a sample of each item, hot dog,pie etc.The feedback we all gave them was not the quality, more the price which they were told quite clearly.Didnt make any difference though!

Yea, as the post above yours states - you can go into the Asda Cafe across from City and get an alright meal whilst sat down, overlooking the stadium. lovely view.
And it's reasonably priced.

Same with the Mcdonalds on the car park, as much as I dislike their food - it's reasonably priced.

We are seen as a group of people that we can have the piss taken out of, with fans willing to be ripped off just because it's related to "their" football club.

Home Bargains will sell 3 pies for a quid (hollands) yet City will sell them at £3.50 (or thereabouts) for one.

I don't buy it anymore (because of being ripped off), only buy the beer when I fancy a pint.

I'm looking forward to my pre match lobster and crab salad

Yeah but it won't be just any old pre match lobster & salad with our Jamie will it now? No, no, no, no! It will pre match lobster & salad with Pesto, sprinkled with Parmesan cheese with a Tyme & Basil mayo on the side.
He always has to go just that bit to far, to fussy, to pretenious and fuck it up doesn't he! That's our Jamie for you....

Re: Food & Drink Prices - Next Season

Well Jamie Oliver did the catering for the Lords Test Match just gone and there was a story in the papers about a £20 steak sarnie!!!
I sign of things to come at City?

At Piccadilly station you can grab a bite to eat from a number of places cheaply and a pint as well. There is also Sainsbury's,M+S,Boots and Pret to grab a snack or a sandwich, you can then catch the met straight to the ground. Why anyone pays for the overpriced lack of choice inside the ground is beyond me.

The club would be better off having franchises of the above,or one main retailer selling reasonably priced snacks and drinks, rather than all these new fangled ideas that nobody wants or can afford. They may be alright in the executive boxes but not on the concourse amongst us mere mortals.

The Price, quality of service and food make me cringe,
there seems to be a lot of fans with the same grievance.
would it not be worth staging some kind of protest via the clubs tweet or other social network they use. maybe even flood every social inlet they use to try and get the message across.
Ive tried writing emails myself, but im convinced they just go straight to the delete box.

maybe try and hit them where it really hurts and organise a "no eat at the stadium" protest for 2 or 3 games. It would be amusing to see all catering stands void of us mugs whilst the half wits behind the counters stand there picking thier noses or comparing the love bites on thier necks... trying not to be too offensive but these people would'nt even get employed by mac donalds.

Can anybody tell me WHY they have to profiteer on the catering. I understand it's a business and not a charity, however the fans are part of the theatre, without us its a lot less of a tv spectacle, we also pay our dues in ticket prices. I don't think the excess profits they make on a pie will effect any issues we have with the financial fair play shenanigans,, and I'm sure the owners don't need the cash. So why do they do it ?

Most complain about the prices but there are still long queues before kick off and at half time so I doubt anything will get cheaper.
