Had liver, mash and gravy at Sam’s and it was fabulous.
Ended up playing frisbee when my Mum cooked liver but to be fair to her she did a mean boil in the bag cod in parsley sauce although she did occasionally forget to take it out of the box.

it's stuff like that that I miss. I haven't had parsley sauce in years.

When i was young mum used to do rabbit casserole, cow and lambs hearts, braising steak, pies, puddings(sweet and savoury) lamb neck stew, potato cakes, pastry cakes, etc. Proper food. No fast food in the late 60s.

Best chippy pudding and chips I've ever had were from the Wooden Spoon chippy opposite Ashton bus station. Home made steak n' kidney puddings, proper chips and lashings of minced beef gravy. I could just eat that now.

There homemade minced beef pie was Simply the best.

Shirley you can knock up a bit of parsley sauce mate. If you can't be bothered just knock one out. And while it's still warm stir in a bit of dried parsley and coat your wife's fish in it. She'll love it ; )

Tommy Thompson, what a nice guy he was to me. Gave me some very sound and good advice about business when I was younger and setting out in business. He was spot on, a very astute man.

Nector the stuff from the Wooden Spoon, I can remember it being on a corner facing Wilde's Pet Shop before it went posh and was 'built' into the bus station.
