Football Leaks/Der Spiegel articles

Oh ok, I see where you're coming from.

Well the stuff about IP rights, that's definitely covered as I'm sure it's been mentioned in the press.

The stuff about inflated sponsorships, again, as I understand it, that's what we were in dispute with PwC about. We argued it wasn't related party, they argued it was.

So I'm not sure of anything that's come out that's new info?

UEFA or FIFA don't seem concerned in the slightest.

It's only Bayern and that La Liga twit that seem to be screaming for an investigation, nothing new there. I expect Mr Henry might be making some passive-aggressive comments to his friends in the press in the coming days, but other that that I don't think there's anything to worry about.

Again, I can't recall if the question of whether Mansour was ultimately paying our sponsorship money and the likes of Etihad were just a conduit for that was something UEFA looked at and therefore could go and investigate or whether any settlement would preclude that. Of course, I don't rate UEFA's chances of proving that IF it did happen as they have no right of access to Etihad's accounting records.

Let's put it this way, I'm far more concerned about whether we will beat the Rags on Sunday.

What this smear campaign completely fails to grasp is that having a mate on the board of another firm and calling them and saying,

"hello Jim, we're in a bit of a spot - any chance you can bung us an extra couple of million on that sponsorship deal"

is NOT illegal.

Moreover, it's not even against FFP rules, and the extra couple of million is perfectly allowable under FFP rules!

It would not be allowable if "Jim" worked for a company controlled by City, i.e. they were a related party, as defined by international accounting standards. But this is not the case, as confirmed by independent auditors, both ours and UEFA's. The tests are objective and objectively the relevant sponsors are not related parties.

So we've done nothing wrong and there is nothing to see here. That doesn't get many clicks nor suit rummenigge's purposes though, does it.

Fat Sam on talk shite saying he finds it incredible that Villa have new owner's who can't spend money because of FFP.
Surely he must realise that is FFP operating exactly as intended.

I'm not surprised, there are an awful lot of people who don't seem to have grasped that FFP is essentially an anti-competitive policy designed to hinder new investment being used to grow a business - in the real world outside top-level football such investment is standard business practice.
