Football loosing Interest ? Is it Real or a Myth

Bar our games(tv/attending) I don't watch as many games involving other clubs like I used to unless I want them to lose(scum), or a win/win match(Liverpool v Scum - Chelsea v Liverpool etc). Get bored very easy. Maybe at the start and end of each season with new signings (for other clubs) and relegation and that, I might show more interest. Globally, it's probably as strong as it's ever been.

I have this odd Feeling that Football isn't beeing watched so much anymore. All my cousins and family and friends have stopped watching and talking about football.

I feel like American Sports is growing in here while football is loosing many watchers. How is it in ur sorroundings ? Is it a myth or real

Its not for me as much any more, cut down on away games. Only go home games and alot of the time its more of a drag to go.

Have two young kids who are more than happy to just want to play out, with their toys and mates than sit in a seat for 90 mins.

I have noticed alot of 'fans' who dislike football all of a sudden are the ones who's team wear red and are not winning anything

It's definitely Real.

And Barcelona and Juventus. Talking shite so they can get their Super League and change football the way they want.

Broadcast income for the PL tells us that interest in English football is stronger than ever. Other leagues? Should have managed themselves better to provide a more interesting spectacle.

I’ve worked in education for 15 years and it’s noticeable that fewer boys are interested in football these days than even ten years ago but more girls are interested in footy.

There are a hell of a lot of kids whose parents can’t afford to take them to the footy so they get interested in other things. There’s a growing attitude that football is for more well-off families.

There’s also a growing attitude among the lads that football is for soft lads and girls. The harder kids seem to want to concentrate on rugby, or MMA/boxing and not be associated with footy, and some take the piss out of the footy lads for being “Wendyballers”. Some are more bothered about acting like gangsters and getting stoned… but most of all kids are obsessed with computer games, watching videos of people playing computer games (what a fucking bizarre concept that is!), or social media and taking pictures of themselves as if they’re models in training (and that’s the boys as well as the girls!).

They’re not arsed about American sports at all really. Basketball was much bigger in the 90s (around the time Manchester Giants were at their peak helped a lot) than it is now.

I’ve also noticed that kids are not interested in music or music scenes in anywhere near the numbers when I was in school in the 90s. We used to be obsessed with it, swapping tapes and talking about music, learning to DJ, learning instruments, playing in bands, watching bands… all the time! We were as obsessed with music as we were football. Kids these days just listen to chart music or there are some who listen to that drill shit (and it really is shit!) and at a push you’ll get the odd few who try (but are pathetically shit!… but fair play for trying haha) at rapping.

It’s why we are currently in the worst British rock era of all time!

kids acting like G's really does my head in...most would fuck off first sign of real trouble. Especially one to one

Riding around on scooters masked up.....funny as fuck...I'd rob their bike, machete and mask.

There was a book out some time ago entitled 'The Game that Ate Itself', or something like, and the things that irk most ticket-buying fans are not being addressed nor are efforts afoot to address them - VAR is a lottery, the way it is run, the reporting of the game is skewed, governing bodies whose sole existence, it seems to grub more and more money into their coffers, timewasting by clubs who's only ambition is another chance to rake in whatever the PL provides, and if they come fourth from the bottom that's ok, increasing thuggery and lawlwssness that jumps on the back of the game, shitty public transport if yer want to leave yer car at home and forego the delights of on-site parking. airport searching on entry, exhortations to get to the ground early, and on, and on! A time willl come when yet another 'straw' breaks the donkey's back. (Didn't want to use the usual metaphore, for obvious reasons!)

Many people (myself included) started losing interest a few years back when it became more than evident that Pigmol/Var were no longer trying to hide their red-shirted favouritism. Riley and the his were basically telling us all that they will do everything they can to assist the rags and the dippers and if the rest of us don't like it, we can fuck off.
I don't recall a time ever in my entire history of following the sport that I've felt so bitter and resentful, and so sick to death of seeing time and time again those same two clubs benefitting from dubious refereeing decisions.
Every now and again teams get the rub of the green, mostly through incompetent officiating, but occasionally through human error. And those teams thank their lucky stars for the stroke of good fortune that has seen them win the points or go through to the next round, whatever. But they also know there will come a time when the roles are reversed and they will be on the receiving end of some awful refereeing decision and lose the game.
But that is not what we are getting when it comes to the rags and the dippers: We know long before kick off that the result is a foregone conclusion, we joke about what time they get their penalties, or what time a very very good opposing player is sent off for the most trivial of reasons. We know the red-shirted players can foul at their leisure without a card being produced, but the moment an opposing player goes in a bit heavy he's carded...no question.

It is for these reasons that myself and many other football fans are losing interest, and until such time as Riley and his corrupt colleagues are arrested and charged this downward spiral will continue.
