Football Trivia Question of the Day (continued)

Confession time. I honestly don't know the shirt numbers of our most famous players.

I also have no recollection of George Weah a former world player of the year at Chelsea but I got all the others. Very strange how the mind works, as I worked it out I had Danny Granville down long before Anelka and SWP who are perhaps the best two examples.
This is an almost accurate list of post 93 City squad numbers by the original founder of this thread

<a class="postlink" href="http://www.myfootballfacts.com/manchester_city_squad_numbers.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.myfootballfacts.com/manchest ... mbers.html</a>

this provides a partial answer to the current question which seems to have stumped the cognoscenti on here -

Which is the only City shirt number since July 2010 to be worn by three different players who are no longer at the club and who were they?

the answer is #52 - worn since July 2010 by Andrew Tutte, Andrea Mancini and Emyr Huws

next question

What is the highest squad number worn in a match in the entire history of the Premier League and who wore it and for which club?

Abdul has made his mark as the record holder though, currently seems to be playing for OFI Crete
Great Britain
In 1993, The Football Association switched to persistent squad numbers, abandoning the mandatory use of 1–11 for the starting line-up. The first league event to feature this was the 1993 Football League Cup Final between Arsenal and Sheffield Wednesday,[citation needed] and it became standard in the FA Premier League the following season, along with names printed above the numbers.
Most European top leagues adopted the system over the next five years.
The Football League introduced squad numbers in 1999, and the Football Conference followed suit three years later.
Players may now wear any number (as long as it is unique within their squad) between 1 and 99.
To date, the highest number worn by a player in the Premier League is 62, by Manchester City's Abdul Razak. It has been suggested the Swindon Town defender Brian Kilcline wore 62 during 1993–94, but he actually wore 31.

Stuart Barmer is the one you're thinking of, Davids wore it for Barnet as well as Ardiles for Argentina, but Barmer is the only PL one I know of, think Charlton were numbering their squad alphabetically or something crazy like that.
