Wild guess time. In 1970 the England World cup squad got to number 1 with a song called "Back Home". Was one of Sir Alf's coaches a former player from the lower leagues or possibly Brian Labone, Everton captain who was one of the centre halfs in his thirties and along with Jackie Charlton the oldest in the squad ?
Good guess, he does appear on that very hit - you're very nearly there with your mention of coaches - all you need to do is name him! Not Gerry Dorsey (aka Engelbert) either but rumour is he had a trial for Leicester City once, and not Carlton Palmer although he did at least play for County and has turned out this season for Staveley Miners Welfare FC according to Wiki!
