Football Union Threatens Legal Action

One issue you have is FIFA loses money 3 years out of 4, where as UEFA make money every year through the CL.

The World Club Championship (or whatever it's called) is FIFA's attempt to have some of what UEFA have.

With the Swiss model starting next season this only adds to the congestion in the calendar.

The big clubs where all for ESL to maximise their income but never asked the players for their input.

We all moan at our players but without them we don't have a game.

Reduce the PL to 18 clubs would be a start. But that would only lumber more onto the rest of the pyramid.

Allow bigger registered squad sizes would be a good addition. I know homegrown players can officially go over the 20 plus registered for the PL squad but allowing more to choose from would stop players like Rodri playing over50 plus games a season

Everybody wants a piece of the pie and it‘ll be the game that suffers, players being the first, while those who rake in the money pay out large dividends to those who have no interest in the game.

Not forgetting those that do it for influence.

Unionisation is on a hiding to nothing really with the modern footballer. They spend the first half of their careers scrambling up the ladder and the second half desperately trying to stay near the top -medium to long term planning is not a thing.

Its fucking mad - they want more games but want to apply spending and squad size limits at the same time. I think the more games is mad the spending limits will have to be lifted or "interpreted" and teams will be like American Football teams with different squads for different comps. Lunacy

This is the answer. Relax FFP so that clubs can have bigger squads to cope with the number of games. It's pretty clear the number of games won't be reduced any time soon.

Well I actually read the article and it doesn't say the PFA are "threatening" anything, This is what the useless PFA CEO actually said:

"I feel like we've reached a stage where people are ready to take legal action, where people are ready to take tangible action on the pitch to try to resolve it, because it's a sad state of affairs. I think it's a defeat for football when the players need to take the justice in their own hands because they don't feel protected."

A lot of thinking and feeling, not much threatening. Still, Harris got his headline. The tosser.

And, while I am at it, I see everyone is against the new CWC now that Liverpool and United aren't in the thing.

Here's an idea. The clubs could cut out their pre-season, money-making, jet-lag-inducing tours around the world and just play three or four games against local clubs in the ten days before the season starts. What's that? No one for that idea? What a surprise.

Money rules the game and will dictate how many games are played. Up to the authorities to find ways to allow the clubs big enough squads to compete.
