Like East Level said, the GQP says it's socialism. They also think vaccines are communist/socialist/Marxist.

BTW, I was exposed to covid on Friday and had to pay $25 for a home test. If home tests were free and plentiful it'd be a lot easier to get this under control but a household w/ 2 kids will never spend $400/month for weekly testing.

I guess it is from those who have come under from the cradle to the grave welfare system. They should try living without this wonderful system and then come back and share their experiences after they have had a bad health issue I can tell you from personal experience the NHS with all its doubts gives a wonderful service

I have used health systems in numerous countries of the world. The NHS has always provided me with good service but isn't really any better (or worse) than other European health care systems from my experience.

I spent a year in Tanzania as a volunteer, the nearest hospital was 350 miles away in Dar; never a day went by that I wasn’t praying that nothing serious went wrong. On the main road close to me I passed a coach from Kenya pancaked on its roof. The nearest ‘local’ hospital was 30 miles away and they were putting the injured into the backs of pickups to get them there (no ambulances). The local hospital was tiny and run by a Norwegian doctor and his wife using archaic equipment given to them.

Appreciate what we have. I just wish the Nasty Party would support it properly.

I lived in the US and Mrs MB managed to slip a disc over there and needed to go for an MRI… insurance company was duly called and they said they couldn’t promise it would be covered until after the scan and if it wouldn’t be it would cost me $20k!!! We still went ahead and they did pay (can’t recall what my co-pay was but weren’t much at all else I’d remember it) but you can see why people even with insurance might shy away from going to hospital etc for fear of being landed with a whopper of a bill any way.
 
One American once scoffed at the idea of a state-funded single-payer healthcare system, on the grounds that "why should I fund someone else's healthcare?"

I then asked them what happened if they didn't use any or much of their insurance funded healthcare in a year - did they get a refund of the unused amount? And if they needed to receive healthcare in excess of their premium/co-pay/deductible, how did that get funded?

They simply didn't understand the concept of an insurance policy, which is basically pooled funds to cover the overall costs of a scheme.

People need to mind their own business and worry about their own countries. The NHS is a treasured institution here but we’ve no business telling others what to do with their politics.
