Ford to bin the Fiesta off

Just as an aside and slightly off topic (sorry Mods) when you drive a petrol/diesel car a long distance you just pull into a garage/service station and fill up in minutes. Driving an electric one how long does it take to recharge at same places? Surely not minutes?

Just a random thought from an oldie who loves her petrol Fiesta. :-)
Tesla are rolling out 300KW chargers which take around 15 minutes but you have to pay quite a lot to use them. But then again who fills up at motorway services paying £2.00+ per litre?

Ask yourself if would do this swap. Instead of taking a few minutes, would you fill up your petrol car at your house for 5-6 hours overnight but the petrol costs £5 instead of £50? If that sounds good then an electric car is definitely for you.

Electric cars are a no brainer if you only do shortish trips and can charge one at home. For small cars it makes 100% sense. If you regularly drive more than 100 miles the drawbacks very quickly mount up. Or if you live in a block of flats and there is no way you can plug in then it just doesn't work.

The battery technology in your mower is very different from that of an EV because your mower has a handful of battery cells whereas an EV has thousands.

Tesla's battery capacity barely drops below 95% in the first 5 years of ownership so with a 300+ mile range that's around 15 miles lost which is bugger all in the grand scheme of things.

My diesel meanwhile loses 25% of it's range on a cold day but I still pay £80+ to fill it up. I have a Tesla on order and the economics are just looking miles better. The diesel is £80+ to fill up, servicing is £300+ per year and the tax is £500 per year... The Tesla has none of these costs.... Even with energy prices, it's only £7 to get 250 miles on an off-peak tariff.
How long will a Tesla battery last and how much will it cost to replace?

Yes, I'd happily pay £5 to fill a petrol car for 5-6 hours overnight. Sign me up please as I can't afford to switch to an electric vehicle.

Could be - but in the case of Skoda I think it was mad of the VAG parent to bin the Yeti and the Roomster - both popular cars - and just resort to make badge engineered VW suv's with silly made up names. They also dumped the Citigo. Same with FIAT who now just make various iterations of the 500.
The Roomster!
Half van, half hearse.
