Saw Tell No one on the bbc, quality film. Always liked French films though, could anyone PM me a list of say 5 good ones? No horror/thriller please. Bit of a pussy you see.

Dancini, some really good French films -

B/W classics.....
A Bout De Souffle
Riffifi - a classic heist film where the crime is filmed in 'real' time
Pickpocket
Le Grande Illusion - a great POW anti-war film
Jules Et Jim

Some more modern stuff.....
Read My Lips
Irreversible - can be a hard watch as it includes a graphic rape scene but an extraudinary piece of cinema.
Delicatessen - Made by the same guy who did Amelie. Surreal and brilliant.
A Ma Soeur
The 'Three Colours' trilogy.

Agree, didn't know what to expect but thought it was excellent.

I want to go and see A Prophet but it's finished now so i'll wait for the DVD.

Got La Zona to watch before weekend. Anyone seen it?

@ Zimmer, which is best - 9 Queens or City of God?

i'm gonna say 9 queens
How is this possible! City of God is the greatest movie of all time.

I'll try and find the time to watch 9 Queens over the weekend

Bertolucci is great--The conformist and 1900 especially

Then there' s Vigo --L'Atalante and Boudhu saved from drowning

and Robert Bressons A man Escaped and pick pocket

L'Atalante is my favourite film ever

I watched Lower City last night.

2 mates who both become infatuated by a Brazilian hooker. She shags them both repeatedely and they fight and argue a lot. She's alright for a dirty hooker. Steamy and sweaty would be the best words to sum it up. Still can't figure out if it was good or not. Probably worth a watch.

Haven't gone through 11 pages to check, but does anyone like the Ip Man films? Watch Ip Man 2 last night and besides shockingly poor acting and rather unreal sets and such, I was really into it.

Don't know much about martial arts, so was nice to learn about the birth of the legend that is Bruce Lee, and his Grandmaster and how the form of art was brought about.

On the same subject (and I have mentioned this before)...The Yellow Sea remains one of my favourite films.

Really love Asian films, especially these Korean and Chinese smash 'em up and martial art ones....
