Forget Recriminations, how do we sort this mess out?

I'd rather have Bobby than Mourinho.

I justify this in quite a simplistic manner, because although Mourinho is a great manager, Bobby is certainly no slouch either:

Mourinho is a club jumper. He walks in, wins things, then pisses off somewhere else. We would be the stop between Madrid and the National Team. Mancini is someone who looks like he is here for the long haul, rather than a quick hows-your-father.

I want stability and I want it long term. I want someone to build a dynasty here instead of just coming in and winning things, then leaving us in the same position as we were before. Give me a Ferguson or a Wenger over a Mourinho any day of the week.

I look at it this way; let's say you have this lovely girlfriend. She's a very nice looking girl - not the prettiest in the world, but she's still model material. She loves you and you love her, and she wants to spend a long period of time with you. Bedroom wise, she's pretty superb too.

Now, let's say the prettiest girl in the world came along, who happened to also be the awesome in bed. She doesn't love you though and wants a quick one night stand before she goes off to work on her next bloke.

Would you sacrifice your pretty awesome girl who wants to be with you forever, for a bombshell that only wants a quickie?

That analogy was terrible, but I think you see my point.

Hello Ian Hollowhead.

Thats a reasonable stance to take mate but let me ask you this, lets say it takes 3/4/5 years for Bobby to win the league? Great we all say, lets face it, we would have bitten somebodies hand off if offered that a few years ago but lets also look at our club as a business, one that just has to start making serious money almost immediately if we are to really start eating at the top table of football for years to come.

That sort of cash will only come from winning nearly everything out there and fast.

FFPR as ensured that a 10 year plan and the patience needed has gone out of the window and it has to be speeded up, hence the huge spend and incredible amount of players in in the last 2 seasons.

Time just will not wait no matter how much we want it to.

We will pass the FFPR easily, without winning the league or the Champions League due to the various loopholes already found in the system. I sat down and did a comprehensive post about this a while back, but I'm not sure if I ever posted it here. Long story short, if we continue our current growth and we do reach the FFPR, due to the way that the regulations work and the CL is structured, we will have no problem at all passing it.

If we remove that as an obstacle, I don't see why we can't wait 3/4/5 years for the title, apart from inpatience

Be an interesting read that mate, stick it up or pm it us if you can?

I only wish we had a few more seasons in recent times that were as much of a mess as this one apparently is.

Agreed mate and whilst i wont subscribe to us being in a mess, i do believe there are issues and they need to be addressed and that those issues exist both on and off the pitch still.

Does she do anal? I need to know before I can answer the question properly.

Arf. Knew I shouldn't have gone with the girl analogy.

Point remains though, that I can't take the same short term view of things that others have. I want sustained success over 10 years, 20 years or even 30 years, not just a quick CL win then back to square one.

I don't see Mourinho coming here for more than a couple of season or so. Mancini's CV and age speaks for itself, and he wants to manage us long term.

One thing people need to realise as well is that Mourinho would be the one giving and City taking (anal) and if you are happy for City to be so shafted then fair enough, but I see this differently.

Can i ask mate, why do you see it that way?

Its the players that hold the power these days in football barring a couple of managers and by that i mean Taggert and Mourinho.

Messi is to players what Mourinho is to managers, the best there is and for me its a great big yes.

For those upset at the thought of getting rid of Bobby, wanting the dynasty, expecting the 20 year reign ala Taggert, just imagine for one second the scenario were Mancini, after us telling Mourinho to go do one, getting the call from Italy or Inter for example saying come back home and take the job and he says yes.

This is football, its a business and there is very little if any sentiment anymore.

Lets not forget that if the panic induced posts that have been made about the demise of City under Mancini come to pass the FFPR aren't an issue as we will be in the Championship soon enough!

Mourinho has form.

HE has to be the story. I predicted that he and Real would not be a great paring and it looks like he will do one after one season and no title.

So the great man starts whoring himself in the media for the next stop.

I say let that be United Dan let them have a season of an ego then someone else cleaning up the mess.

Lets also not forget that managers have a shelf life. There was a time when Brian Clough (the one who is most like Mourinho IMO) was a wanted man but it ended badly of course.

George Graham was wanted at City and now he cannot even get time as a pundit.

I am not saying that Mourinho isnt still great or isnt the best but I think that he is now on the demise and his next English team could see an Allisonesque style implosion.

The right man at the right time at the right club = Mancini and City.

But its about opinions and I am now perhaps in the minority but it doesnt mean the majority are right ;-)

There is also another aspect to consider.

The Sheikh bought the club as a way of promoting Abu Dhabi via his involvement, and making Man City a world brand to achieve this. Mourinho would make everything more about Mourinho than Man City, and that would be hurtful to the efforts of the Sheikh, surely?

I would say that you are still very much in the majority mate tbh and rightly so. Bobby is our manager, we are on target for 4th at least and he will have achieved his aims and done a good job. I would only swap Bobby for Mourinho in the same way i'd swap Tevez for Messi and i really mean that. I don't want Bobby sacked because i think he is shit, he is a very very good manager but i just believe there is better and given the chance, we should take it.
