Formula 1 2022

Verstappen just too good. He's been ridiculously consistent and has made it look too easy this year.
Strolled to another win today. Now holds the record for most wins in a season (14). He could be at the top for some time, unless Ferrari get their act together re race strategies. Would it be a surprise if Hamilton called it a day now? He's left a lasting legacy in the sport, and I'm guessing he won't be happy at not being top of the pile any more. Plus, he's made his money; does he need to put himself through what I'm assuming is a gruelling fitness regime?

Lewis and Mercedes have already briefed that he’s singing a new deal.

He’s not going to just retire because there’s a new kid on the block.

I can’t see him as a midfield clogger in the way Alonso and Vettel are but he’s got a few years fighting at the top in him yet.

Think he’ll do another season or two yet. He’s clearly still got the pace as a driver.

Hadn't heard about the new contract. Slightly surprised at that. As you said, he's not going to want to be back among the "dead men" in the chasing pack. So, if that is the case, the Mercs are going to have to seriously improve that car for next season, as it's a fair distance behind Red Bull.

They will be looking medium term.

Compared to how bad the car was at the beginning of the season, they’ve worked miracles with that Mercedes.

They were running midfield and bouncing so badly it was almost at the point where Lewis medically couldn’t drive the car.

Next season will be between Lewis and Max again I reckon.

I don’t see Ferrari getting their act together. I’ve said it before, Leclerc needs to fuck them off. He must be gutted Lewis is sticking around as that would be the obvious way out of that team.

I'm starting to think that skipping the last two races might be a good idea.

Have a long off season period like the old days and then be chomping at the bit for the first race next year.

Although I'm a bit worried that next season basically boils down to whether or not Merc can put together a championship contending car again. A Verstappen led Red Bull team is very strong opposition and I feel only Hamilton can run him close out of the current crop of drivers.

Think Leclerc and Russell both can too if they’ve got the cars (and in the formers case the team competence).

I'm calling Hamilton will be here next season. Depending on how it finishes it maybe his last.

He wants the title he feels he's owed. If his team get their shit together he could well get it.

If Red Bull aren't in contention it will be the fault of the "Draconian punishment." Which Karen Horner will parrot every race whilst accusing the leaders of cheating. Be it Mercedes, Ferrari or an outside bet like McClaren.l
