Formula 1 2022

Well, Verstappen was absolutely out of the F1-world today. 10th position. Twice the first to change tires, his first fault of the season doing a spin, and still comfortable winning on a race court where he never won before.

Well done Hamilton. Deserved to be the best of the rest. Russell can be proud with getting pole and finishing 3rd.

Ferrari? Fastest car. And that’s all you can say about it.

Verstappen today even surprised me. And I thought that was hardly impossible.

Interesting from Christian Horner, they planned to start on the hard tyre but listened to their drivers and switched to softs on the grid.

Ferrari would do well to take note.

Ferrari are absolutely clueless when it comes to the race, no tactical nouse which has dropped them so many points. That race was there’s today but, once again, they managed to fuck it up.

Nice drive from MV though, and good to see Mercedes getting their act together for the summer break. Let’s see what they’ve all got when they’re back in Belgium in 4 weeks.

Quite surprised at the Alonso move. Aston obviously wanting to replace experience with experience but genuinely thought they'd have gone young so that Stroll could become team leader.

Alpine have been sending out a vibe that they don't really want Alonso around. Alonso probably jumped at the chance to leave (and I assume a nice pay rise too).

Alonso has been driving well for Alpine, Aston Martin seem to be having a shocker under these new regulations. Alpine being a works team with their own engine have a lot more potential, usually when Renault get back into f1 they win at some point.

"Daddy, Daddy, i want another world champion as a team mate" is how i imagine the conversation went.

Possibly. Although I more imagined it to be 'daddy, daddy I want to be the number 1 driver now'!

Alonso going to Aston is a disaster for Lance Stroll and will probably end his F1 career. Over 3 years he's fallen behind relaxed, chilled out, enjoying later life Vettel.

Alonso is going to smoke him, he will be so far ahead Stroll will look like an amateur.

This move is purely to benefit the team, bringing in a driver who will improve the team and get the most out of the car.

I think people underestimate how cut throat Lawrence Stroll is. Give it a couple more years and I would not be surprised if Lance is farmed out to some Aston Forumla E or LeMans team.

And it can't come soon enough.

Fuck the Strolls.

The wacky owner merry-go-round that that team is ridiculous. Going right back to Eddie Jordan, but he was sort of funny and likeable in his own way.

I don't think the pair of them have done anything to make anyone dislike them.

Lance was a decent enough pay driver who peaked at 22, he's hardly the first to outstay their ability because of money.

Lawrence saved a team (and factory and 300 employees) from bankruptcy as well as one of British motorsports most beloved brands.

Neither would make a top 20 most unlikeable people in F1 IMO.

I don’t think the Stroll’s will be around in f1 in 3-5 years Volkswagen want into f1 branding it up as Audi. I wouldn’t be surprised if they get bought out by them and packaged up as something else.

Stroll Sr is trying to revamp Aston Martin and being in F1 is integral to that branding exercise so I think he'll be around for a while unless someone buys him out of that. Bringing Toto Wolff into the AM ownership is another move that would hint at motorsport being pretty important to them.

I think the latest rumours are that Aud will replace Alfa as the backers of Sauber.

Can they do that?

VW are also buying a stake in Red Bull aren't they, under the Porsche brand?

RB have two teams though so I guess it's fine.

Audi Sauber, fka BMW Sauber.

What a funny merry-go-round F1 sponsorship is.

That's a bit like City changing their kits to red, our name to Manchester City United and getting Sharp to sponsor our kits.

Stroll did have discussions with Audi back in May in regards to engine supply. If they did come into the sport they could potentially give Aston Martin an exit route if they did. Alfa is another destination as well.
