Yes in effect it is in many ways.T_Bone said:So the Prem is now a football version of the WWF/WWE? Come on.Boots_ said:Hamann Pineapple said:With TV deals about to top £2billion for the Premier league, to believe matches are not influenced is naive at best.

Paranoia rules in a few threads on here recently. By that logic, we beat Spurs 3-4 a few years ago and it was all a set-up. The Gillingham game was fixed...Prestwich_Blue said:Yes in effect it is in many ways.T_Bone said:So the Prem is now a football version of the WWF/WWE? Come on.Boots_ said:Nail on head.
Giggs wasn't 2 footed, it was one, and his other foot was underneath him, as he tried to tackle, Aguero's knee pushed Giggs knee further from the ball. It was a shit tackle from a slow player, no malice, and arguably not from behind. The wrapping of the leg around Aguero was purely a result of the collision. The video is on here somewhere in super slow motion.johnmc said:Prestwich_Blue said:Take the Kompany tackel and the one Giggs did on Aguero. Giggs came in 2-footed from behind, got nowhere near the ball and hooked his other leg round Aguero's. That's at least a yellow and possibly a red according to the letter of the law. Yet he got neither. That's not a mistake.
How do you know its not a mistake and just inept refereeing?? Because thats what you think? Why can't he just be a poor ref. I didnt think VK or Giggs were worthy of reds.
It was, City fans bought Halsey a pint the night before, that's all the corruption you need at that level.T_Bone said:The Gillingham game was fixed...

Yes, it's all about control, and this still didn't mention about the big gambling money in the far east that link directly to the Premier League games each week.T_Bone said:So the Prem is now a football version of the WWF/WWE? There is just no dispute that Sky has a major influence over football.
It's no coincidence that 50 years after the munich disaster, the derby at the swamp just happens to fall on the weekend closest to the anniversary.
It's no coincidence that the old Big 4 'Super Sunday' games saw Chelsea play rags and Arsenal play Liverpool on exactly the same weekend. It's no coincidence that for the last 2 years running we have played Spurs for the 'top 4 decider' at the end of the season, and no coincidence that this year we aren't.
Have you ever noticed a big premier league game clashing with any other massive event shown by Sky? How many 'big 4 clashes' did that random fixture computer throw up on the weekend that Sky are covering the CC final?
Sky put billions in to football and have the clearest influence into the way the fixtures pan out. This very season, television's influence has cost us points - we end up playing the dippers 48 hours after playing Sunderland, whereas they get another two days rest. Result? We put out a weakened side (against Sunderland) and get turned over. (Dodgy offside decision notwithstanding, the TV schedule had the most obvious impact on team selection).
The suggestion that TV has no influence on the premier league is way wide of the mark.
