Frank Field Quits Labour

she is in Wallasey too so probably just high jinks from a dipper getting some practise in on his way to find the City team bus.

Eagle's office is one of a number of offices belonging to various small enterprises in a fairly anonymous three story block, a brick was thrown through a stairwell window that faced a pathway at the side of the building, late one night/early morning.

Eagle's office is on the ground floor with a Labour Party banner in the window, it is no more exposed than the stairwell window so any one wanting to make a political point would probably have thrown it through there, either way, on an estate where window breaking is not unknown a broken stairwell window is scant evidence of Momentum hordes.

By the way, when blairites scream they're being threatened it usually means someone's called them an arsehole.

And you would relish the chance to rip them over it.

It doesn't make it right does it?

no it doesn't but it adds a little balance to the warped picture being presented. I just watched Nicholas Soames on Sky news pay massive tribute to Frank Field - because he knows Field is a Tory at heart with a general leaning closer to him than any Labour party or leader. Its quite funny but he like others time after time claim to know loads of Labour MP's ready to drop the party whip.............but it doesn't happen? Why? Because if you repeat something often enough thats all that gets seen on the news and in the papers which then gives it a veneer of the truth.

So your not saying they are not happening or condemning it, but justifying them because it happens in other parties as well. The Soubry story is about the level of abuse from the public not an internal movement hijacking the party.

Is there any evidence that in the Soubry case nobody - not one threat not one post - who is a Tory party member was involved? I was showing that its not exclusively Labour - I wouldn't condone any of it in any party - as for the idea that there is a hijacking of the Labour Party thats just absurd. If Momentum had overrun the party and if their intentions were as some would have you believe then why are there not mass deselctions? Why is Watson still deputy?

You know it is actually possible to pay tribute to someone who has different political views, right? It doesn't make them an evil enemy just because they have a different opinion.

like many people pay tribute to Jeremy Corbyn on here despite him holding different political views......................oh no wait ...............

Indeed. I said it's possible. But they have to be good people. Tony Benn got a lot of tributes from the right too. Corbyn doesn't. Funny that.

yeah - the response I expected.

Anyway Frank Field is getting lots of respect from Tories even though he isn't in their party......... speaks volumes.

Clement Attlee gets lots of respect from Tories even though he wasn't in their party. Speaks volumes.

as long as people on here think that respectful political discussion includes referring to Jeremy Corbyn as a tramp or a terrorist respect is dead on BM.

The irony of Corbyn fans coming out with the "he fell out with the party frequently over the years" line as an excuse for wanting him gone.

Why are you obsessed with corbyn?

Frank Field has a long history of rubbing labour MPs PMs and members up the wrong way.

His last act to vote with the government in parliament, which if he and his other 3 labour coleagues had just abstained could have potentially colapsed the government.

This has pissed off his CLP who have voted no confidence in him.

Fuck all to do with corbyn or labour leadership, his usual bloody mindedness has for once come back to bite him on the arse and so he has jumped ship before being kicked out unceremoniously.

However to just quit would look foolish so he has used the present AS row as a shield, that in itself makes him a twat, considering his previous comments 15 yrs ago.

Corbyn or momentum doesn't even need mentioning in this thread, as he was already on thin ice with the CLP before this.

Also can everyone keep the zionist nonsense to the anti-semetism thread or bashing a tory comment to the may thread, otherwise if every political thread is going to turn from a real debate to a slag bozza/may or slag corbyn theme then political forum is a waste of time.

From the Spectator July 2016;
"At a Labour party meeting in Hove at the weekend, a steward at the college hosting the meeting was spat at by an activist, while Bristol West MP Thangam Debbonaire’s activists were left ‘frightened, intimidated and in tears’ after a confrontation with pro-Corbyn Momentum activists at a recent local party meeting. Angela Eagle, meanwhile, had a brick thrown through her office window and her staff threatened."

This was the MO of Militant before they were cleared out, its reappeared under the banner of Momentum and Fields is being targeted along with any other MP not of the rabid left variety.
I did of course know about which window smashing incident you would refer, strange how when the truth comes out people either ignore it or maybe don’t see it, it was a made up story by Eagles gang.

Yeah but its hardly a shock that a labour MP lies is it, more likely the Corbyn little band of hero`s are so thick they broke the wrong window, were all the other stories of intimidation made up as well ?, or just friendly banter between party colleagues misrepresented by the right wing press.

Brighton is more than a simple situation, the CLP had to be suspended and is now split into 3, the spitting incident was a fabrication from the leader of the labour council group at the time and he sent letters out prior to the meeting ot kicked off to like minded local members with a rallying cry to destroy the left wing element.
Left wingers were abused and threatened by CLP members from pregress.
Most there say northing happened untoward.

The whole place was teeming with divided factions long before 2015/16 and Corbyn and momentum and the suspension was for a claim of vote rigging that was never proven.

Trust me as someone who has been to CLP meeting and been in a suspended CLP (McNichol seemed to suspend any and many after 2015), there has been divisions at local level in many and bullying throughout the late 80s till mid 2000s by members of progress and the right of the party.

Now the left has becoem dominant again, it isn't liked by some, but division and also a willingness to work together has aleays been part of the party.
Since Kinnock shifted the party in 86 the left have mainly backed it and been supportive if unhappy, the right side of the party, unfortunately are acting like spoilt little kids and having tantrums now the situation has flipped the other way.

That's an accurate picture of what's happening all over the country, the kind of infighting that's been going on for yonks suddenly gets branded Momentum thuggery now the left is in the ascendant.

I must admit though, the sheer petulance and low politics the right has engaged in since Corbyn's election has even shocked an old fart like me.
