fred eyre

Fred Eyre knows more about playing the game, the players and City than almost every poster,he is blue to the bone. He isn't a backslapper but for me he is the iconic old school City Manc, dry, laconic with a touch of "let's not get carried away'.More than that,he says what he sees, unlike some who are controversial to court publicity/ingratiate themselves.

Gleghorn's not too bad either. Repeats his main points too much for me but he's generally OK. I only ever really hear him after the games when I'm on my way home, so I don't know about during the game.

Did you hear the time recently (can't remember the exact context) where Gleghorn hosted the entire show? He has a football brain as a co-commentator etc, but he's not made for the Jimmy Wagg role. Cringeworthy it was. I see Hinchcliffe is on his way up the media ladder these days.

Agree with you about Fred Ayre. Thought he did a decent job also at the Big Mal pre match memorial. Posed some good questions to Summerbee. What do these fans Fred Ayre to be? A guy who will sit there wanking over every city pass and misplaced pass, grunting down the radio?

no problem with fred at all, straight talking with a dry wit.
quite enjoy his commentary.
and like the rest of us, blue through and through.

Yes but he comments on misplaced passes, poor performances and strange substitutions. He might as well fuck off to Old Trafford.

There was a thread on here once calling Jimmy Wagg a "Rag" because he said something positive about Man United. Seriously.

All very true,we have quite a few rag like fans who take offence at any negative comments.Personally if i,m listening to a radio commentary i prefer a warts an all
view, relayed as it is ,not what we would all just prefer to hear.

Gleghorn, like Wagg, has never got over Hughes's sacking - he's been stuck in the same tedious old negative groove ever since It must be nice for him to read on here that he's still appreciated.

is it really too much to ask these days when the whole of the national media seem to have it in for city and take great delight in raking over any negative issues - to expect a little bit of bias from our local bbc radio station ? that bald twat thomas gets away with it for the rags - why not us . i have no doubt fred is a true city fan - but guess what so am i (have been going for 42 years )and i expect a bit better than the coverage we get at present , if there was an alternative i would listen to that but it would appear there is not .
