How does that work from an accounting perspective? They're different financial years.

I think all deals are structured from an accounting point of view over the life of the contract(and restructured if the contract is extended) I would imagine we will have a half year or even four months worth of costs this year, plus wages.

Nothing to do with accounting. With the world cup and all, summer transfers are going to be fuckin hard. Clubs would wait to complete the deals after the WC in the hopes of getting more money. Barely any time left already and then the pre-season's kinda fucked too. That's why Pep wants to close deals for 2 very important positions - DM and CB. Probably a forward in the summer, maybe a backup LB, but that's about it.

Fred and Laporte would be excellent signings and ease the burden on our defensive players.

Otamendi, Fernandinho and De Bruyne need to be managed well to the end of the season. We have been hugely reliant on them, particularly the latter two. Bringing in Fred helps provide cover for Ferny and he could potentially play further forward for De Bruyne. Gundogan needs to step up and ease that burden.

This more than any deal is the one I want to see over the line as we need cover at left back and for Ferdinho, He could be such an important signing for us especially if he can fill those 2 roles. Not mentioned for a while but we should also be looking at the Monaco guy does the same jobs Fabinho.
