Frenkie de Jong

Exactly, we did it under my namesake because we were fucking skint. FFP and what it was replaced by is surely meant to stop clubs doing stuff like bringing forward future revenues, and frankly the fact that Barcelona are akin to Swales’s City shows how fucking bankrupt they are and how corrupt uefa and La liga are for letting them get away with it
So your comparing Barca to Swansea?

Come on, Barca are a huge business, in great difficulty without question because they were run by an idiot (Bartomeu) who made crazy deals in every aspect of the club.

Laporta is picking up the pieces and doing everything to get the club back to some sort of financial stability.

As said before Barca are going nowhere, they are an institution that will NOT be allowed to go bankrupt.

They can just about afford a fucked fiesta around the back but think they can pop into the Aston dealership for a new DB11.

I’m reading in here from some posters that Barcelona are selling their future income to buy trophies now and that such a practice is perfectly reasonable. There’s no guarantee of that working and it is the kind of speculative hopeful business practice that sees businesses becoming insolvent. How the fuck uefa and La liga allow that, and how they allow wages to be deferred for years, and then let such a shambolic entity buy from other clubs on the drip, putting the income of those clubs at risk is surely exactly what FFP and affordability is supposed to be all about stopping?! And breathe, sorry that was a long sentence
It’s the most ridiculous, shortsighted and insecure business plan that any sports club has ever come up with. How delicate must their resolve be as a club and institution, fanbase n’all, that they can’t take a few harsh years and not winning anything while they sort out their finances in a sensible manner? Then build to come back in five years or so being in the black and completely money-worry free. They’re banking the future on the present

I hope the Madrid teams pip them to every trophy in Spain over the next few years and completely fuck that plan up n’all.

I also hope UEFA come forward with some heavy fines and a ban (I know I know, never going to happen to a Cartel club!) because one of the rules they’re breaking is an FFP breach that saw Malaga banned from the CL - unpaid transfer fees that were held by debt companies. But fuck all seems to be happening to Barça over it. All other clubs should be demanding an explanation about this, especially Malaga. This is where a fucking letter needs writing with loads of club signatures on it!

Surely them setting up a company and putting their own money into the company to “reinvest” in themselves as a loan is a breach of FFP n’all. That stinks to high heaven that. If City did that we’d definitely be found to be breaking rules.

So what the fuck is ffp and it’s successor there to do? It’s always allowed debt and is supposed to be about spending now what you earn now, not spending now what you earn in 25 years time. Barcelona are technically bankrupt, and uefa are allowing them to operate in such a manner. Bent as fuck. If you think that’s ok, as you are now the most self-righteous poster on here, that’s up to you. I haven’t got the energy or the strength of finger to keep up with you

It wouldn’t work in any other industry. No way would banks lend such huge sums against FUTURE revenues on some pie in the sky plan that a business wants to mortgage its future revenues to win a couple of copa del rays - winning la liga isn’t anything like guaranteed and we all know that winning the CL isn’t. Imagine us doing this, I am sure uefa would be fine with it!!

We are fully aware what FFP was brought in for and who was responsible.

A simple question, do you think ANY business owner/ custodian should be allowed to invest finance in to their business without question?

Uefa won’t do anything until the three year monitoring period is up and if am right its 90% of your turnover can go on wages! But if they eventually comply with the Spanish wage cap they’ll be absolutely fine with Uefa rules…

Same Legal entity…. Barcelona Fc are bound by any contract…. If the present Board want to bring proceedings against any previous Directors or Officials then they can but the agreement with DeJong was signed by someone representing the football club and was signed and negotiating in goof faith. The present contract is enforceable - in the courts if necessary.
Understood - it’s the same legal entity therefore in principle all obligations stand. HOWEVER, if the parties knowingly acted illegally in some way - for example colluding in tax evasion - maybe it could then be declared null and void.

I’m only speculating here and it sounds a dangerous game to me.

Absolutely. In effect they are maxing out their credit card.

For some unfathomable reason (!) FFP never appeared to focus heavily on indebtedness.
