Frenkie de Jong

If he does end up going to United, it has to be said he’s been so badly advised by the people managing his career over the last few years.

The kid has completely sabotaged his potential, from such a promising start when he was at Ajax.

It seems like he’s been dazzled by the big names when they came calling, without doing any due diligence on the current state of the clubs in question.

Joining Barca 10 years ago would have been a great career move. Joining United 20 years ago, the same.

Joining either when he did was tantamount to reckless self-sabotage!

To be fair mate, what options has he got? Barca have presumably put City off with a big transfer fee and United are desperate for any ****. Bad decision going to Barca though.

Seems a bit harsh. He was very open about his admiration of Barça before that move and loved the idea of playing with Messi. Despite their drastic drop-off, when he joined that was a very understandable move and he’s on great wages.

By all accounts of how this is unfolding, the Rags don’t seem to be his desired destination but the likes of us, Bayern, etc aren’t in the market for him and Barça seem to need to offload him.

He can stay put.

Yes, Barca are a complete fucking mess at the moment - but he’s there already. There’s nothing he can do about that now.

Leaving then for the one big club who are in an even bigger mess than Barca is not the smart answer to his current predicament.

He can hold fire this summer, and he’s sure to have a better offer in the future.

United will want him on a long term deal, whereas at least at Barca he’s in the process of running his current contract down.

Jumping from a frying pan into a fire is never the smart way out - and this would be a great example of that cliche.

If he loves Barca, he should tough it out. They can’t force him to leave.

Going from Barca to United right now would be tantamount to committing career suicide.

Which is such a shame given all his talent.

If he’s going to leave one complete shit-show of a club - joining another who are just as bad is not the solution.

Barca are fucked, they aren’t getting out this financial mess any time soon.
