To say that this is disingenuous is an understatement..why would that be an obstacle to discussing the crimes of communism?

In your logic we should be tearing down all our colinial past statues and all religious buildings as our empire, and religion have all have been respinsible for the things you listed also.

I think you are mixing up totalitarianism which is what the 20th century had in different periods and still exists now.

Becoming a communist or even to some small degree a facist (in the roman sense) doesn't mean you necessarly become totalitarian, which hitler, franco, stalin, pol pot etc were.

Edit. just to make clear I am refering to facism as was first referenced during early century AD which was more about church and state control over the HRE, not mussolinis ambrosian modern take which franco embraced which was totalitarian.

No I am saying you listed why communism is bad, yet all those listed crimes have happened under other ideologies too, most notably all of them under the british empire, which was far from communist.

Communism in it's original egalitarian form is not bad, the people who interperet it in their own way are, much like any religion and ideology.

As the saying goes power corrupts.
