Hi. My name's Carl.

I'm from Kentucky, I'm 34 and my passion is cats. I love them, they're gentile, warm animals and they provide great company.

I like Tennis too, my favourite player is Nadal. He has nice hair.

I used to like Nascar but it gets a little repetitive, and can become boring.

But in January I began watching a little Soccer. I caught a little EPL, and one team immediately stood out.

It was my now beloved City.

The love affair started with the colour of the jerseys, baby blue. Really cool, I'd never seen anything like it before, it really caught my attention. More so, the coach, Mancini. He wore a baby blue and white scarf, it looked awesome, he oozed class. He was the clincher for me, he even has nicer hair than Nadal!

Then City won The FA Cup, it was the proudest moment of my life. I bought the home jersey and a baby blue scarf, and I haven't missed a game on ESPN since.

I love you City. I'm so proud to be part of the clan too. Go blues!

CTID.

bet you could join the COOL CATS... have a word with Micky for you... have you got a tattoo yet & do you have a baseball bat?

Does he like cats too? I like baseball too btw, I have an old bat somewhere in the basement. Why?

-- Tue Jul 19, 2011 8:08 am --

They will already be here, it's whether or not they want to learn, or are willing to learn. It's guaranteed that after our match in Vancouver there will now be more 'fans' of the club, simply because they have seen us in the flesh and heard about our tour, same with the last venue we played at out there. The more successful a club is, and the more global it becomes, the more 'fans' it will attract. United have had that for decades, as have Liverpoo and more recently, Chelsea. It will happen with us too.

Probably a bad choice of words on my side pidge, I hate the "Geordie way" thing but it's a bit like that, I cant describe it, maybe it comes from us being bobbins for so long but supporting City isn't about just picking a team and watching it describes who you are
No I know exactly what you mean mate. Growing up in school in the late 80's, early 90's, all I had in my armour was 'yeah but your fans aren't from manchester'. A naive way of thinking back then, but its all I had! I used to sit next to a guy from Devon in the first season at CoMS, sound as fuck he was too. He was as passionate as I was, if not more so as he travelled up for each weekend home game, stayed over then went home the next day. We have loads of fans who aren't from Manchester, but it was nice to think that we only had Mancs as fans growing up, but like I say it was just the only thing I had at the time to slag them off as they went about their trophy winning ways! The Geordie way of thinking is one of my pet hates in football, all the 'you have to understand the club' to be a fan or indeed their manager! We aren't as bad as that but there are an element of fans who believe that you need to be from round here to be regarded as a genuine fan. (Not you).

In years to come, the "your fans aren't from mcr" retort may be become less used, but the general opinion about most mancs supporting city will remain.

In fact I think that probably winds up the rags more - hence why new recruits to the team usually mention it in their first interviews.

Hehe!

To other new fans: Do not be discouraged by by the loud super-minority of fans that appear not to welcome you, or see you as a lesser fan, or otherwise seem to wish to discourage you from your new passion. They in no way represent what you will find on your first excursion to Manchester. I came to Manchester for the Derby last November, and made lasting friendships with so many Blues I ran out of fingers and toes with which to count them all. I ate, drank, and sang songs until I was hoarse. I never--at any level--was discouraged by anyone that was a Blue--in fact, it was hard for me to buy a pint because of the Mancunian hospitality I received. I proudly wore my scarf everywhere, and was cheered by many passing Mancs on the street. I cannot wait to come back in September for the Everton tie, and will make two more trips this season (thank God for airline miles and hotel points). The city and City will welcome you with overwhelming good cheer--take that to the bank!

Oh, and Mancunian birds really dig American accents! See y'all in September! CTID, Jim
It will take a long time for many fans who have been there in our periods of adversity (late 90's, 80's, some were even there in the early 60's among just 16000 others... never shirking, never doubting, loyal) to get used to the idea of glory fans coming along claiming they love the club as much as them. We're not knobs for thinking that, we're not going to tell you to get away from our club, but many aren't going to view you and others in the same light. I may well meet you in the pub if you come down and have a few pints and a laugh but it's going to take a while to get used to.

Many wont get used to it. Many will hate it. There are many Rags who still hate it and can't accept bandwagoners at their club. I have a mate who's a Rag who says there are punch-ups between Mancunian Rags and Cockerney Rags on a fairly regular basis.

But at least we're all Blues together!

My girlfriend has just became a City fan

The more the merrier I say

welcome onboard - enjoy the ride!!

It is part of our financial plan to increase revenue by expanding the fan base, but haters gonna hate

..and I bet you're enjoying the ride just a bit more now she's a blue mate (especially when she puts her City shirt on ;)

Anyone else remember week in week out getting onto the Kippax at 5 to 3 just as the players were running out (yes they actually ran out in those days) and standing on your 'very own' slab of concrete at the back of the Kippax surrounded by your mates and other familiar faces...

..then one week when we are playing a big game and guess what I can't get anywhere near my usually space because the ground is full of glory hunting twats.

And so to new fans who have suddenly 'chosen' to supoort City rather than being from Manchester or born into a City supporting family I would extend a luke warm welcome and respectfully ask that you try not to get in the way of us proper fans with your dodgy accents, brand new scarfs and little knowledge of our glorious history as we won't like it, particularly if you ever block my view or make it difficult for us to get served at the bar.

And for those with no loyalty points but the ability to buy glory hunting corporate tickets, don't brag about it because you will have stolen the seat of a true fan.

If I am being totally honest I would much rather you supported someone else.

You are joking right?

Did you really prefer the Kippax when it was half empty, static and everyone had their own slab?

Give me the mental full houses, piss down the back of yer Oxford bags, starting at the top and finishing at the bottom days, every time.

I think they built the Main Stand for people who wanted to watch the match in an orderly fashion mate.

I am one of those who question the mentality of people who suddenly 'choose' to state that they all of a sudden 'support' a successful football team.

However, were I to meet you in Manchester I would be the height of civility and treat you as I treat all human beings that I meet.

I am quite capable of separating the person from an aspect, a single aspect amongst countless facets of their personality, of their make up.

I, as most decent people are, am quite capable of being a warm, friendly, welcoming and decent person, without agreeing completely with everything you do or say.

I cannot get my head around people 'emoting' about a random sports team that people choose to support and then seek to portray that they are hugely emotional about.

I won't be acting like a **** towards such people though, and to suggest that people who hold similar views to my own would, as the above post does, is a bit of a cheap attempt to avoid the basics of that debate imo.

It is quite possible to hold a separate views on sport and an individual's attitude to it and views on that individual as a person. In fact, the unwillingness to accept this is often an aspect of this debate that I find the "massive fans from Singapore are not laughable" camp find difficult to deal with.
tend to agree
