Fulham League Cup - Post Match Thread

Didn’t think we could get better but he seems to have done it. Seamless mass changes as opposed to league cup last year and our defence is another level.

Arguing about the crowd? It’s exactly what those who use it against us would want. Fuck em.

Not arguing about the crowd. In fact I thought it was more than announced. My gripe is the amount of time it took to get in with the length of the queues. If it wasn't a full house why did it take 30 mins to get from the back of the queue to our seats. I'm not an empty seat counter. Just the delays getting in was my concern.

Aro Muric, 6 - Had very little to do, looked unflustered in possession and his starting position helped nullify one or two potential Fulham attacks.

Danilo, 8 - Other than one defensive error that allowed Fulham in, it was a fantastic performance from Danilo, excellent in possession and was a constant threat down that right hand side, played some beautiful cross field passes to Sané.

Vincent Kompany, 7 - Quiet afternoon for Vincent, defended well when called upon and recycled possession efficiently.

John Stones, 7 - A couple of lax stray balls aside, another top performance from Stonesy. Defended solidly and excersized his excellent passing range, spreading the ball and creating from the back.

Oleksandr Zinchenko, 7 - Good job forwards and back. Didn't put a foot wrong defensively and helped support the attack when needed. Some excellent passing again as usual.

Fabian Delph, 8 - MOTM - Did Fernandinho's job without problem. Passing was sharp, he was quick and strong into the tackle winning the ball back and springing attacks all game long.

Kevin de Bruyne, 8 - Back to the Kevin we know and love. Dictated the game today along with Foden, could have scored, definitely a promising performance from a player coming off a long term injury.

Phil Foden, 7 - Some really lovely passes and slick turns, he helped KdB create and press, but took a little bit of a backseat to de Bruyne. Another promising performance.

Brahim Díaz, 8 - Close to being MOTM, 2 goals excellently taken. Looked a threat down that right hand side all game, although he gave the ball away quite frequently.

Leroy Sané, 6 - Hot and cold for Leroy. A few brilliant dribbles and passes mixed in with a bag of missed touches and shrugs. Love the guy but not his best performance.

Gabriel Jesus, 8 - Another candidate for MOTM, only thing missing was a goal. Brilliant touch, pressing, link-up play, all with flair. Best performance I've seen from him in a while.

Riyad Mahrez, 6 - Some nice touches, not really on long enough to effect the game.

Claudio Gomes, n/a - Nice to see Gomes get another app.

Jesus' performance was the real standout for me

Seemed like he decided to just take the shackles off himself... haven't seen him play with that kind of flair since around the time he joined us

Good signs if he keeps that frame of mind

Great summary. My thoughts too. As I've said previously in this thread considering the game time between them together as a team, without the usual first choice players, they all seemed to gel as though they played week in week out with each other. You must admit that Pep fella must be doing something right. ;-)

A good turn out , bottom two tiers virtually full ,i got a couple of freebee tickets in the South stand and it was a decent atmosphere , a great chant near the end of "why are you still here" to the away support (hope their taxi's stayed to give them a lift home:) KDB controlled the game , and was great to see Diaz get his first goals , Foden was poetry in motion.
Not sure what the crowd was but at a guess would say 35/37,000 which i think is the highest home attendance of the round (apart from West Ham in their local derby game) , just wish Manchester Council would sort the roadworks out , Mancunian Way and Regent rd is a nightmare , normally takes me 75 minutes to get to a night game , its now taking nearly two hours and getting home well past midnight , thank f*ck i dont work for a living anymore , i would have been knackered with a 7.30am start.

How did the crowd figure stack up relative to the away attendances?.

Ignore me, couldn’t resist.

Great result by all accounts and good that some of the young lads had decent game time.

Interesting post. Not seen the game myself..but im aware Jesus has a lot more in his locker, flair wise, than he has shown at City..i studied his performances back in brazil at both club and country level.I actually assumed he had toned down his natural game under Peps instruction, not his own volition..either way there is so much more to come from this youngster...you dont get to be Brazils no.9 lightly..hope the level of performance i,m reading about from jesus continues....us City fans could be in for a treat!!

Yep he was fantastic last night apart from scoring, everything a Brazilian No 9 should be.
The goals will come, i have no doubts.
