Not one to bare a grudge?
Well done Mayo. Well deserved.
That Dublin team hadn’t got the composure we’ve come to expect.
I'm livingin Mayo, I don't have any great love for the Tribesmen. But just about everyone who saw that game remembers it. Like the England Argentina WC game in 1966, or the Keegan/Bremner Wembley bust up, or the Lee/Hunter scrap. Infamy lives long in the memory, and that farce of a final won't be forgotten for a long, long time.

Finished 12 men against 14 as far as I remember and they still beat Galway.!
You cannot seriously be associating the Dublin team of the last decade and their demeanour with any football from the early eighties.

The team today lost composure however I still don’t know what the black card in extra time was for. The Mayo guy ran into him. He simply stood his ground. That made a huge difference. Although I think Mayo would have beat them anyway.

They're not as blatant as they were back then. But I've heard several accounts of nasty, off the ball stuff from them. Now, I understand that you want to defend them going by your IP address), and I have no problem with that. I'd probably be the same. As for your summation at the end, there weren't too many confident "culchies", around here anyway. The thinking was that injuries would derail the team. But that second half, and extra time, really got the blood pumping. More than bloody Norwich did.

They’ve lost it, and credit to Mayo for the changes in the second half, but that has been coming with Dublin this year.

Regarding the black or yellow cards. I think there was inconsistency in the refereeing long before the Dubs took leave of their senses. I think it got to them but they just weren’t working as hard as Mayo. The poor decision making that I criticised Dublin of in the Leinster final was there in abundance from the second half on.

Good luck Mayo. Thoroughly deserved. There will be a tough fight against Kerry before the hoodoo is broken.
Yeah they weren’t great at all in the Leinster final either. Hard to keep a team motivated and battle hardened when they’ve gone unbeaten for so long, human nature I suppose.
Kerry still favourites imo

They will be now, definitely. Before today, I'd have had the Dubs as favourites, notwithstanding they haven't been in particularly brilliant form, by their standards anyway.

Great match from half time onwards
Looked to be heading towards a comfortable Dublin win up to then
Think in the end they’ve just lost too many class players over the past few seasons

keegan and conroy were immense

Mayo have to go on and win it now. Yes, celebrate the win over the evil Dubs, but nobody will remember this year if they don't go on and win the Sam.

If they don't do it now, the curse is real.

Kerry are the favourites now. Have Mayo one last intense push in them? They won't get away with a similar first half in the final as they had today. I thought it was gone at HT. 6 points down.
